LONDON (AP) — Hapless husbands and housework-burdened moms were being banished from British advertising, as a crackdown on “harmful” gender stereotypes came into force Friday. Under new rules, advertisements must not include “gender stereotypes which are likely to cause harm or serious or widespread offense.”
Examples include depictions of a man failing to change a diaper or a woman to park a car, or ads that suggest women are solely responsible for cooking and cleaning.
Complaints will be assessed by industry watchdog the Advertising Standards Authority. It doesn’t have the power to impose fines, but British broadcasters are bound by the terms of their licenses to comply with its rulings.
The watchdog, which has previously banned ads for suggesting it was desirable for young women to be unhealthily thin, said it won’t ban all stereotypes, such as women cleaning or men doing home-improvement jobs.
The authority said its aim is to remove those that are harmful, such as ads that contrast “caring” girls and “daring” boys, or mock men for carrying out stereotypically “female” tasks.

So tell me how any advertisement for cosmetics, lingerie, haute couture, or bathing costumes are legal. They project a really horribly negative female stereotype -trying to look attractive to men.
Imagine the absolute sh*tstorm that would take place over an ad featuring a black burglar. Nobody would run the ad to begin with. Or even produce it.
Just calling it stupid doesn’t do it justice.

The irony is rich.
The whole transgender movement is based on gender stereotypes and actually reinforces them. Because when a boy want’s to play with *girl* things, then he’s a tranny.
When a girl wants to play with boy things, instead of just being a tomboy, she’s not transgender as well.
The very gender stereotypes they are railing against are the very ones that they use to justify their transgender movement.
So it’s only a *harmful gender stereotype* when the person’s sex matches the stereotype, IOW, when it’s a girl or woman doing typically female things, or a man or boy is doing typical male things.

All stereotypes are true to some extent; otherwise they wouldn’t make any sense. We all know someone who matches the stereotype. That doesn’t mean we think every individual of a particular group matches the stereotype.
I remember watching an episode of “Baretta” that had an old black actor who played a wino. He looked familiar, so I looked him up on IMDB. He had had a lot of roles, and in all of them the role was described as wino, winehead, derelict, bum, addict, etc. Every single one. He had made a career out of being a stereotype. He couldn’t have been Sidney Poitier, and Sidney Poitier couldn’t have been him.
OOOPS. I meant that she IS transgender as well.

It turned out, that she had traditional values and understood what men and women really mean to each other.
