U.S.A. -(Ammoland.com)-On 31 May, 2019, at about 1 p.m., a woman hiking with her husband on a popular trail near Aspen, Colorado, was bitten in an unprovoked attack by a black bear. She was bitten on the thigh and required hospitalization for a short period.
Most bears that show no fear of humans have become acclimated to humans. Bears that have no fear of humans are likely to test humans to see if humans are potential prey. Eventually, the bears have a good chance of causing harm.
The case illustrates how effective a pistol could be at stopping bear attacks, especially black bear attacks.
The bear had to be stopped, because it had become a danger to humans. If the woman or her husband had been carrying a common pistol, they could have stopped the bear attack and terminated the bear before any harm was done.
The bear was an adult male of about 224 pounds. The woman who was attacked understands the necessity of killing the bear. From kdvr.com:
But she understands why CPW had to put the bear down.
It breaks my heart, but I do (understand) because in this case, the bear was not afraid. I found out this is a path used by kids, its close to the city, thank goodness an old gnarly lady, not a child couldve been disastrous, Jansson said.
CPW found the bear within 100 feet of where it attacked Jansson.

“Its negligent to force people to go without protection and then not provide protection.”
The parks and forests belong to Bureaucrat Gang. They don’t care about you.
The established boars won't tolerate any lesser boars so they will be forced out. The ladies might fare a little better.
It might make you sick to go in the park with a gun control advocate, if the bear doesn’t show up.
I don’t understand why people that hike areas with bears don’t carry a handgun, they’re nuts in my view.
The wife and I watched a movie (Backcountry) the other night based on a true story in Canada of a couple who took a hiking/camping trip for a few days. A male black bear killed and ate the guy, fortunately she got back to the trail head though with injuries.
I disagree. A flame thrower (or a road flare that throws a decent flame) beats a gun six days a week and twice on Sundays. Regardless what color the bear is.
Need to thin them. Issue tags.
They better not dup wolves in CO, though I suspect they will come down out of Wyoming eventually.
Is she your sister?
dup = dump

My elk hunting buddy, a true deplorable before it became fashionable, said that predators attacking and even eating humans in the wild had no downside because the predators only eat liberals, and thus provide a beneficial service to the human gene pool by raising the average IQ...
His theory went that conservatives are highly intelligent and therefore were always armed in the wild and could survive...
Sound theory? I think so...Go armed...

Good on you for being prepared.
I was coming out of Dolly Sods Wilderness area when I saw momma bear and the two cubs.
If there is not a metal detector, wherever it is, I will be carrying.
The mauling took place in a semi-rural area
The incident by the funeral home is right smack-dab in a residential area of Buckhannon. Matter of fact, the street it was seen crossing is where the WV Strawberry Festival Parade was held a few weeks ago.
That makes Perfect Sense!
