Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) hopes to continue working across the aisle by offering to team up with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) for another bill.

This bill would fast-track the FDA to approve birth control to be sold over-the-counter instead of requiring a prescription. Ocasio-Cortez tweeted her approval of the statement, suggesting people needed to “pass it on.” Cruz responded, asking if she would like to work on a bill to make that a reality.

Stay tuned.

“Ocasio-Cortez responded by retweeting a reply from Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), who replied by noting that she and Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) have already written such a bill:”

“That proposal, which Cruz has not endorsed, goes further than Cruz’s “clean” proposal to simply eliminate the prescription requirement in that it also forces private health insurance plans to “include full access to oral contraception for routine, daily over-the-counter use” without cost-sharing. Dallas News notes that many Republicans, including President Donald Trump, have endorsed over-the-counter birth control, but nothing ever came of it because Democrats insist that insurance companies also be forced to cover it.”

My take on Ted Cruz is that he will reliably go off the reservation to elevate himself, “make history,” and worst of all be “principled” in a way that undermines his avowed political philosophy.

That’s why I winced when his name was floated for US Supreme Court Justice. When push comes to shove, this guy will go into business for himself and side with the leftist judges, and then make the rounds explaining how his decision was deeply principled and intellectually airtight.

His behavior going into election 2016 displays it all. In his rich fantasy world, Hillary would have beaten Trump, she would have flamed out, and Ted would have been the GOP’s pick to win it all in 2020.

In reality, Hillary would have been stronger in 2020 and squashed Ted like a bug in the general election. He’d assume the traditional GOP Inc position late on election night: wide-eyed, shocked at his loss, and standing in a growing pool of his warm urine trying very hard not no appear pitiful.

He’ll always be better than a Democrat, of course. But keep him far away from the presidency or the Court.

Agreed, they haven’t for decades now. There are no
Daniel Moynihan’s or even remotely close to him anymore.

That being said I have no problem with Republicans doing it if it’s a sensible bill.

A little unsolicited advice, Ted. Stay away from Miss Crazy Eyes. That one’s a bunny boiler, for sure!

The pill is believed to act as an abortifacient about 4% of the time. Also, reported to be a Class A carcinogen.

If that is not enough, the estrogen from the pill is expelled in women’s urine and gets into the water supply (soy boys(?)).

Have fun with that.

The biblical prohibition of contraception, contraceptives and sterilization...

[6] And Juda took a wife for Her his firstborn, whose name was Thamar. [7]And Her, the firstborn of Juda, was wicked in the sight of the Lord: and was slain by him. [8] Juda, therefore said to Onan his son: Go in to thy brother’s wife and marry her, that thou mayst raise seed to thy brother. [9] He knowing that the children should not be his, when he went in to his brother’s wife, spilled his seed upon the ground, lest children should be born in his brother’s name. [10] And therefore the Lord slew him, because he did a detestable thing. [Genesis 38:6-10] “Onanism”

“For they who in such manner receive matrimony, as to shut out God from themselves, and from their mind, and to give themselves to their lust, as the horse and mule, which have not understanding, over them the devil hath power.”
[Tobias (Tobit) 6:17]

FYI, all mules are all sterile, unable to have any offspring.

God bless all Freepers

Around 1969, I was working in a hospital that was admitting women who became “vegetables” because of the pill. I think they had stokes. It was very scary.

Personally, I think the pill should be prescribed by physician.

BC is 15 bucks a month or free. Not exactly as hard to obtain as the Ark of the Covenant for something any reasonable person would agree is not a necessity on the level of food or most other medical care. This whole business of how women are so helpless, we need to go into their house and spoonfeed them pills is all about politics and not reality.

While I don’t believe I had heard that type of history recited before, I do know that circulation problems are mentioned on the package insert. While this is not the circulation problem I had in mind when I suggested women needed to consult a physician for a prescription, it was circulation related and other issues that caused me to say what I said.

Women need to be asked about medical history, and other matters.

Once an evaluation has been made, then the woman should be prescribed what the physician thinks is her safest product.

Follow-up on this is important too, so the physician can ask all the right questions, which may lead to a change in product or not.

Not all items are kept on prescription arbitrarily for reasons of profit.

We need to accept that sometimes we need help making the proper choices.

I appreciate you mentioning what you did.

Great assessment of the Cubanadian!

Although he was NEVER eligible to the office of president or vice president.

Thanks Faucetman. I’ve steered away from the eligibility question, but I do think there are reasoned arguments that he could be in trouble with regard to that.

I’m with you guys. They aren’t saying make it free, just don’t make women go through the doctor’s office first. That would probably make it cheaper naturally.

I really think that man has a split personality.

He may very well not survive the next election, even if it is in 5.5 years or so....
