Michael Flynn hires Sidney Powell as new counsel
The Hill ^ | June 12, 2019

Posted on 06/12/2019 8:46:41 AM PDT by maggief

Former National Security Advisor Mike Flynn has hired attorney Sidney Powell as his new counsel, Hill.TV has learned.

"I'm honored to be representing General Flynn, who i've long considered an American hero. The General and his family want to thank everyone across the country for their cards and contributions to his legal defense fund. He is going to continue to cooperate with the government, pursuant to his plea agreement," Powell told Hill.TV in a phone call.

Powell is author of the new book, "Licensed to Lie, Exposing Corruption in the Department of Justice." The book's description reads "Licensed to Lie reveals the strong-arm, illegal, and unethical tactics used by headline-grabbing federal prosecutors in their narcissistic pursuit of power to the highest halls of our government" and focuses on the conduct of the DOJ during the Enron investigation in the mid-2000's.

Powell is a frequent presence on the Fox News and prominent critic of Mueller's investigation.

Flynn terminated Covington & Burling LLP as his counsel last week. The former national security advisor plead guilty last year to lying to the FBI and agreed to cooperate with Mueller's investigation. Flynn's sentencing has been delayed on several occasions.

Exculpatory evidence will free Flynn.

I just finished the book and wondered why the writer said a “new book”.....I noted the date of it when I read it. A great, great book! When I finished it, I posted numerous times on threads about what a great book it was and I think I received ONE reply. Guess FReepers aren’t readers or lovers of books - at least not the kind you hold in your hands and printed on paper!

After all she’d seen in the cases cited in the book, she wasn’t sure if she even wanted to be involved in legal work any longer - especially not in the Circuit or Appeals Court in TX - (forget the # of the court)...Great and grand lady!

A judge cannot refuse to allow a defendant to change attorneys.

The report last week was about a procedural matter. The judge ordered Flynn to complete the paperwork properly for a valid "change of counsel" process.

No offense, but there's nothing more annoying these days than fake news about fake news.

It has been confirmed. Sidney Powell now represents General Flynn.

“wondered why the writer said a ‘new book’”

It had been out of print for a few years. Then when the current SHTF she became popular again. IIRC, Amazon refused to sell it at first (too much truth in it), but finally came around after being pushed.

Hey! Nobody pinged me. I predicted Powell within minutes of the first thread announcing counsel change a few days ago.

7:43 EDT on the 6th.

Am I good, or what?

I have not read the book, but I am familiar with whats in it, from lectures she has given.

I believe she has a good relationship with Judge Sullivan, and he was the one who overruled Weismann in the Enron case. She showed how exculpatory evidence was hidden.

Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

I agree. It had to be either Joe Digenova or Sidney Powell.

I believe that Sullivan was the Judge in the Stevens case that sanctioned Weissman.

OK -- you're good. LOL.

Let's be honest, though. The initial rumors indicated that it was a prominent lawyer who appears regularly on TV, so it was a pretty small number of potential prospects here.

I thought it would be Joseph DiGenova. Other possibilities who fit that description included Alan Dershowitz and Rudy Giuliani.

And Michael Avenatti, I guess. LOL.

Based upon reading her book about a year ago, I have been clamoring for Flynn or others to hire her for a long time. I had no idea that a hint was given. Its just logical with her understanding of the FBI/DOJ MO and corrupt system.

Thank you Liz for your informative post. Nice to see vs the defeatist weasels who drone on about “wake me when something happens.”

So Flynn pled guilty, but has not been sentenced. It seems to me that the way to resolve this justly is that the government should formally recognize the exculpatory evidence hidden by the FBI, and vacate all charges. Alternatively, the judge could give Flynn the opportunity to change his plea, and retry the case, but that seems like a big waste of our tax dollars. Is this correct?
