The FBI Tragedy: Elites above the Law
National Review ^ | June 11, 2019 6:30 AM | By VICTOR DAVIS HANSON

After decades in the FBI, the top brass came to believe they could flout the law and pursue their own political agendas. One of the media and beltway orthodoxies we constantly hear is that just a few bad apples under James Comey at the FBI explain why so many FBI elites have been fired, resigned, reassigned, demoted, or retired — or just left for unexplained reasons. The list is long and includes director James Comey himself, deputy director Andrew McCabe, counterintelligence agent Peter Strzok, attorney Lisa Page, chief of staff James Rybicki, general counsel James Baker, assistant director for public affairs Mike Kortan, Comey’s special assistant Josh Campbell, executive assistant director James Turgal, assistant director for office of congressional affairs Greg Bower, executive assistant director Michael Steinbach, and executive assistant director John Giacalone. In short, in about every growing scandal of the past two years — FISA, illegal leaking, spying on a presidential candidate, lying under oath, obstructing justice — someone in the FBI is involved.

If the people who make the laws don’t have to abide by them, you’re not being governed, you’re being ruled.

Drain the swamp

Fortunately our great and wonderful president Donald J Trump. who sacrificed everything for this great nation and its people, will have another 5 to 5 1/2 years to get this done

plenty of time for all these investigations to find out all the wrongdoing , charge the conspirators , put them on trial , have thrm
convicted and perp walk them

Those of us that Have been following politics for at least the better part of three decades , have seen one Bill and Hillary Clinton literally get away with murder for our entire lives

I believe Barry the Muslim was really more interested in self aggrandizement and adulation and playing golf then anything else

The problem is those who he surrounded himself with our ultimately corrupt

So anyway we shall see what happens , but this whole two-year Russia collusion thing was big enough and long enough of a false narrative that I believe that 100% of the American people became aware of it

and are now aware of the incredible corruption of the media and the government in concert to try to destroy this great man and Republicans in general

Justice is swift.

Justice is blind.

Delayed/non-existent arrests over worries about optics is NOT justice.

If it takes 4+ years to get a coup stopped and punished, what's the point of voting at all? Really.

Trump is the "anti-Teddy", he speaks loudly and carries a tiny stick.

Ecc 8:11 (NIV)
"When the sentence for a crime is not quickly carried out, people’s hearts are filled with schemes to do wrong."

Military tribunals NOW!

I hope you're referring to the top echelon who were involved in Spygate, not the majority of field agents who are dedicated and who, for the most part, despise what has happened over the past few years.

The FBI was founded on that attitude by J. Edgar Hoover. Nothing has changed since.

Terrific article. It would be a good one to send to any uninformed open-minded people you know.

Thanks US Navy Vet for posting it.

Just the right Bible reference for this matter. Allowing the guilty to laugh it off and go on lucrative ego inflating book tours is a disgrace.

April 15th 1865 President Lincoln murdered.
May 1st 1865 President Andrew Johnson orders a military tribunal created.
May 10th 1865 Trials begin.
Jun 10th 1865, 4 conspirators hung by the neck until dead.

Now that is justice.

Really? I've seen no evidence that these dedicated field agents are doing anything other than following the lead of their bosses. The FBI is corrupt from top to bottom. It's in the category of the NKVD, Stasi, and Gestapo, except that they are more circumspect about executing people.

The attitude is well justified. I think what has changed is that the abuse is more widespread, and better protected than ever. Regulations for discipline are Byzantine.

Same on the DOJ side of the road. Ohr gets a raise and a bonus. That's government for you. First thing they look out for is themselves.

I’m going to have to call BS on that. Look at so many of their cases, more or less, entrapment. Look at what they did at Ruby Ridge. Look at what they did in Waco. Look at the FBI Crime Lab Scandal. Lets take a recent look at the case of Lavoy Finicum and the coverup by the FBI HRT. Lets take a look at what happened in Garland, Texas and how the agent told the perps to “burn it to the ground”, I believe, and then fled the scene when the shooting started.

They have a long and sordid history, dating back to the beginning with Hoover. You see, they are the ones that have oversight over every other agency. They don’t have anyone watching them. It supposed to be the DOJ, but as we’ve learned they’re in collusion to get what they want.

DHS was never supposed to be an armed, investigative branch of the government. It was supposed to be a clearing house, where representatives from all the federal law enforcement and intel agencies could de-conflict, share information and work together. But, as with anything the feds do, it grew into a behemoth without a clear mandate other than, Homeland Security. Well, now that they are here to stay, might as well make them do more than assist local law enforcement or walk around airports.

There is not one single thing that the FBI does that isn’t already being done by another federal agency. And, those agencies tend to do it better as they have very clear mandates, whereas the FBI has many.

Let the ones that can retire, retire. Let the rest, after the entire agency is defunded, apply for jobs with the other agencies with no preference given. If they don’t want to do that and just want to finish out a few more years to collect their retirement, let them learn Spanish, give them a green uniform and put them on the border.

Re: Lincoln assassination aftermath....Jun 10th 1865, 4 conspirators hung by the neck until dead. Now that is justice.

Today:

Lawyers duel on CNN and MSNBC over evidence controversy. DNA tests ordered to be re-done due to lawsuit against first lab. Convicted men granted re-trial--may take up to 2-3 years. Many witnesses no longer alive to re-testify in re-trail.

District judge orders defendants off death row --"cruel and unusual punishment" to wait so long. Finally: freed suspects sue U S Government for tens of millions.
