Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) has opted to quit the House Freedom Caucus in the wake of his comments in support of moving forward with impeachment proceedings.
The Freedom Caucus voted to condemn the Michigan Republican's remarks last month, but the group opted not to force him out despite a divide among members.
Amash was the first and only Republican House member to publicly say he thought President Trump had committed impeachable offenses after the release of special counsel Robert Mueller's report on Russian interference in the 2016 election.
He has since doubled down multiple times on his statement that the president committed impeachable offenses and has clashed with Trump as well as with other members of his own party.
Pressure to kick the congressman out of the caucus began to mount after Amash failed to alert the group he was making his position, which conflicts with the majority of the groups pro-Trump views, public.
Members of the Freedom Caucus have been some of the presidents strongest defenders in Congress as momentum to impeach Trump has gained momentum within the Democratic caucus.
The president has maintained that Mueller's investigation found "no collusion" and "no obstruction." Mueller did not establish the that Trump campaign conspired with the Russian government. He neither implicated nor exonerated the president on allegations of obstruction.
So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, Good Night!
Somebody please put this traitorous turd into the slot and then punch “EJECT”! Hopefully his worthless carcass will land in some crack somewhere and never be heard from again.
What? WHAT, exactly? What did Trump DO thats an impeachable offense???
Im beginning to think that merely beating swamp creatures at their own games is an impeachable offense.
The people opposing the current president endorse traitors. perverts. vote fraud and insurrection. They are really against America as it was declared and developed. Wanting to vote in their candidate is one thing: Their activity against this presidency seems like a criminal collusion.
( My constitutional candidate did not win.)
That @$$hole shouldn’t hit the door on his way out.
According to his financial disclosure forms, Amash is a co-owner of Dynamic Source International, a Chinese company that supplies Michigan Industrial Tools Inc., his fathers Wyoming-based business.
His brother denies this, saying it’s a lie but his financial disclosure forms say it’s true.
Do not let the door hit you. Traitorous liar.
Just heard about it. Good News!
It’s a small step forward.
Video from Laura Ingraham show. Comments from Rep. Jim Jorden regarding Amash stepping down from Freedom Caucus. It’s less than 2 minutes. I really liked his short Comment and the smile on his face when he said it.

Deport this Arab back to his home country.
Another reason why I do not take the Freedom Caucus very seriously.
Mueller cannot “implicate or exonerate” anyone from anything. He can only present his findings, which he did - no Collusion; no Obstruction. End of story. End of pisspoor story.
He’s going to leave the GOP and become a Democrat. With his Palestinian/radical moslem voters, he’s assured of his seat unless someone finds something really good on him.
His allegiance is to the Palestinians, not America.
Yep. Free publicity.
He must be involved in some kind of corruption he thinks will be exposed by the return of law and order.
good.
Political parties are designed to undo what the founders did, to bridge the gaps created by the founders as checks and balances. So, for longer than two centuries our society has been at eternal war with itself, always risking totalitarian government (such as we saw under Obama) by strong political parties on the one hand or risking ineffectual government (such as we saw under The Articles Confederation or under the Southern Confederacy) on the other hand.
For some time, I had believed that technology, especially social media, was in the process of so splintering or, if you prefer, democratizing, political discourse that the major parties would be fractured, even splintered. One would assume that would be an obvious course for the contentious, selfish, power mad Democrat party but there is and was another force at play which has checked this development as it might've applied to Democrats.
George Soros. Soros' money and the money of his gang of billionaires has so penetrated the levers of power of the Democrat party that it can squash any maverick. It can also pick winners and designate losers. It did so in 2008 when Soros dumped Hillary for Obama. Money control in the Democrat party funneled through Nancy Pelosi firm.
On the congressional level, Democrat money so controls Democrat media that no Democrat dares depart from the party line because the retribution will be not just swift but merciless. The impulse of Soros' money, of course, has been to drive the party ever to the left as it has become more radical in its self-identification of socialism, it's acceptance of infanticide, it's policy of open borders, transsexualism etc.
None of us believe that this portends anything but bad for the country but for a party seeking power, discipline is an invaluable advantage for overcoming the checks and balances installed by the founders to prevent tyranny.
So no matter how far left the lurches of the Democrat party superficially seemed to be, they are united from top to bottom and they always have their tribal issues of racism, sexism, homophobia etc. with which to divert a compliant media.
Republicans, on the other hand are simply not a disciplined party at this moment. Trump may or may not be able to overcome this disunity and gain reelection but, meanwhile, we suffer at the congressional level. The implications for the Republican Party are ominous and we have seen the baleful effects already.
Apart from putting judges through and a distorted tax cut, Mitch McConnell has subverted the president at every other turn on tariffs for example. Paul Ryan did the same on Obama care, for example. Now we see Amash playing the maverick. If he is not ruthlessly disciplined, fragile party coherence will disintegrate even further. He must be disciplined Pour encourager les autres or the Democrats will prevail until we recover some level of unity.
Yes. “Opted” was an interesting word they used. I think it was Jim Jordon who said on Fox yesterday that Amash was asked or told to leave.
Yeah...he’s “standing on principle,” alright. It’s the principle of doing what his paymasters tell him to do.
We now have mutual agreement.
