Sex work would be broadly legalized in New York state under a first-of-its-kind bill introduced by state legislators on Monday.

A group of lawmakers first called for legislation in February, but on Monday they finally came forward with a 13-page bill that would bring dramatic changes to the sex trade in the state.

The bill, written with advocacy group DecrimNY, would make it legal to both buy and sell sex under certain circumstances and modifies laws around facilities that are used as places of prostitution.

In Philthadelphia, nearly all massage parlors (run by orientals) are sex service trades. They are busted on a daily basis. Nothing happens to them, and they simply move business to the next town nearby.

I think it’s a realistic way to deal with the oldest profession. Few supporters are going be shouting their support from the rooftops. That’s a given.
There should still be age limits to this, and no one should be forced or pimped. If they are forced, that person should be able to get police help without winding up behind bars too. There may be some access to health care coverage too.
This may help to keep incidents of VD and drug traffic low.
