The Home Depot in Oakland is having problems with homelessness and crime, and its gotten so bad that the hardware chain may shut the store unless the city can curb the thefts and clean up the tent and RV camps that dot the area, City Councilman Noel Gallo said.
Gallo said the hardware company has been raising concerns about crime and camps in the area for months.
Its out of control the tents, the garbage, and the thefts in the store and in the parking lot, Gallo said. People are getting their cars broken into in the parking lot.
Home Depot Government Relations Director Francisco J. Uribe sent Gallo an email reiterating concerns about an RV dweller on nearby 37th Avenue who had brandished a weapon in front of a pair of Home Depot workers.

Oakland just legalized magic mushrooms, so it’s all good.
Home Gaypot is closing a store amid it’s very beloved customers. Nah, can’t be. Lowe’s loves veterans.
the people in Oakland don’t need a Home Depot.
Herd them up and transport them across the bridge to San Francisco, where they will be welcomed.

“..the people in Oakland dont need a Home Depot...”
Screw the people of Oak Land.
Pretty normal for SoCal too, the gubmint around just doesn’t care.

The city won’t. HD will eventually leave.
Home Depot has parking specifically for veterans right up front.
Home Depot was part of the problem when they let their property be used as a gathering place for day labor.
When I live in San Jose, every trip to Home Depot I saw 20 people hanging waiting to get hired.
Companies did it along with home owners.
Lowes has a poopload of parking spaces reserved for veterans and the handicapped. Any more and I’ll have to park at the AM/PM next door and walk over.
I get Metal Rescue from there sometimes.
IMO, we R's have got to think in terms of "rebuilding America" (and it could be expensive). It would include rehabilitating and dissolving the community with a number of public work programs such as the Civilian Conservation Corps of the 30"s.
The D's won't do it at the local level so it will have to be done at the R federal level.
