Oregon set to change the way it awards Electoral College votes [COMPACT]
The Oregonian ^ | June 6, 2019 | Chris Lehman

SALEM – Oregon is close to becoming the 15th state to signal that it will award its Electoral College votes to the presidential candidate who receives the most votes nationwide.

On a 37-22 party line vote, the Democratic majority in the Oregon House sent Senate Bill 870 to the desk of Democratic Gov. Kate Brown, who has indicated her support.

Instead, said Rep. Allisa Keny-Guyer, D-Portland, the compact would make Oregon more relevant during presidential campaigns. “The Republican presidential candidates write Oregon totally off, and the Democratic candidates take Oregon for granted,” she said. “So we are just relegated to being a spectator state.”

“This is setting up Trump to win electoral votes he would have no chance at otherwise.”

Not likely since none of these laws are actually in effect.

Every compact state should have all of its electoral votes nullified for attempting to unconstitutionally disenfranchise its own voters.

“I thought there was a provision in the Constitution which prevents one state from doing something based on another states actions”

You might call that “COLLUSION!”

Yes, there is a provision. Article I sec 10, para. 3 No state shall “enter into any Agreement or Compact with another. (without consent of Congress)

Nobody seems to be challenging this or even questioning it.

It needs to be settled asap.

So the press can announce any numbers they want to as the “national popular vote”, and who can stop them?

“I predict a Trump popular vote history greater than Reagan’s”

The only way Trump or any Republican candidate will ever again win the popular vote is if we set polls across the USA to close at the same time. As it stands California closes hours after most of the country and will always be able to “harvest” enough ballots to manipulate the popular vote total as needed.

This bill essentially eliminates Oregon citizens votes. Because however they vote their votes go to the national popular vote winner. In other words if every Oregonian voted Democrat and the Republican won the popular vote their electoral votes would go to the Republican.

That goes for Washington, Oregon, and Hawaii as well, though they should be able to find enough in LA and San Franschittesco

Better watch what they wish for - Trump vs. Bernie in 2020 could be a blowout and they might end up giving all their votes to the hated Donald.....

The sweet irony is, when he wins the popular vote he’ll carry Oregon! Leftardians hoisted on their own petar-dians.

It should give Conservatives in California a reason to vote now.

Just like in Florida in 2000, when the Cubans p!ssed off over Elian Gonzalez narrowly outnumbered the dead people voting by illegal alien proxy, ruining the Dems’ plans to steal Florida’s electoral vote for Al Gore.

Imagine if California joins with the other leftard states. He doesn’t get a majority of Californians, but a majority of the national vote, and therefore he gets California’s electoral votes. California governor and legislature then sue to enjoin enforcement of the very law they passed.

Idiot. Nobody will visit Oregon when they can attract the same votes in Seattle, Los Angeles or San Francisco.

The bedwetters claim the Electoral College is unfair, simply because their candidate lost. If they want to replace it, I prefer “one county, one vote”. That’s exceedingly fair.

I voted from Trump, but all of the electoral votes for my state went to Clinton.

As you know, that's because Clinton won your state. It wasn't an election, it was 50 elections. We are the United States, not the United State.

"One man, one vote" is not what the EC does.

Your logic is faulty.

Somebody wins every election. The fact that your favorite did not get even a participation trophy does not make your vote less, it only indicates that the sum of votes of your preference did not exceed that of others in the same election.

Note that there is not one presidential election, but one in each state. That election determines the allocation of electors from that state.

Lemme guess, 2 out of 3 voting machine votes for Trump will flip to demonrat and 99.999% of absentee votes will be counted to demonrat and all the military votes will be lost.
