That fits because the Manson family were basically the original Homeless. Teenage runaways that the streets of Hollywood have always attracted. They were just decades ahead of the curve.

The Manson family was kind of a wandering commune with no fixed address. I knew two kids who were part of it. Both were Orange County kids with crappy home lives and Manson provided them with something to belong to. If it hadn’t been Manson, they would have ended up in one of the cults that were all over SoCal at that same time. Neither one of the kids I knew were involved in the killings, they were just among the forgotten members of the group. Sad cases.

A terrific lesson.
