Did not know that Van Houten had this crazy family and a late-term abortion forced on her by her mother.

She grew up in a middle-class churchgoing family along with an older brother and two adopted siblings, a brother and a sister, who were Korean. Her mother and father divorced when she was 14. She began taking LSD, Benzedrine, and hashish around age 15, running away for a time but returning to complete high school. At 17, she became pregnant and was forced by her mother to undergo an abortion. Van Houten's mother informed her sometime later that the procedure could not be referred to as an abortion as the fetus was too far along. Van Houten stated that after this event, she felt very removed and harbored intense anger toward her mother.

I have no problem with her not getting released and I think you summed up my point very well.

Good for him, very very good. You know what I would say to someone who says they’ve become a good person in prison? I would say: that’s great, prisons need good people, they don’t have too many, you should stay put and continue to be good.

And why do these supposedly remorseful criminals never see the justice (and goodness) in serving out their sentences. I’d like to think that’s how I would feel about it, if I’d killed a bunch of innocent people, including a pregnant woman.

“How did Charlie get so many hot women?”

I don’t know a lot about him, but from some things I heard here and there, he was really in with the in-crowd (until he started killing them, of course). I think he was a wanna be musician or something, and I think he met a bunch of big stars. It was the sixties, man.

No way I can cut him or any CA Democrat that much slack.

I can only assume she found the Lord in prison, has been saved, and, most importantly to Newsom and his ilk, become pro-life.

Manson’s group has quite a bit in common with the viciousness of MS-13 or the violent political revolution of the Weather Underground, both of which saw members paroled etc.

My reaction to that, is that if the acts were similar, those folks should never have seen the light of day.

Don’t forget that Manson and his followers were sentenced to death row.

Sentences were reduced to life in prison.

People who do what these people did, should never be let out.

The penalty must be so severe, that others will not think of doing it.

and while you say that the murders had quite a bit of planning, there was a prior drug deal related killing (with a Manson family member/actor in custody for that crime). The Tate-LaBianca killings may have been an attempt to make it appear that Bobby Beausoleil was “not” the killer to get him released.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bobby_Beausoleil

There were some articles on FR about this in January when he was up for parole this year

Charles Manson musically worked with Dennis Wilson and Neil Young and via Terry Melcher was introduced to members of “the Wrecking Crew”.

Don’t know how much the drugs and girls Manson provided Hollywood played into the access he was granted.

Thanks for the mention. I’ve read “Helter Skelter” and other information about the killings.

It’s been so long I’ve forgotten most of it.

My father was in the Los Angeles County Special Enforcement Bureau of the Sheriff’s department at the time of the Porter Ranch arrests. He was not there as the arrests when down, but was on site shortly thereafter.

His name appears in the book, I am told by my siblings. He passed away last year.

When Patty Hurst and the SLA folks were arrested in Los Angeles, he was again on site shortly after the arrests.

During the Watts Riots he served on the street throughout.

I remember reading that Manson did some babysitting for Al Lewis, who played Grandpa Munster.

What does that do to your parenting resume? “Once let Charles Manson babysit my children.”

Wasn’t it also strongly suspected that Manson and his cohorts had also killed other people who crossed them at the Spahn ranch where they lived and elsewhere?

Samadams200. Newsome is just as crazy as Moonbeam in his Marxist ideology and superego. He NEVER” has “our best interests in mind”, only his own promotion. He wants to run for president in about 4-8 years.

Never believe for a second this man has a soul, conscience, or wants to help society. THE ONLY THING HE WANTS TO HELP IS HIS POLITICAL CAREER so if he seems to want to keep the Mansons behind bars, it is not out of concern for society. It is only for concern about his future political career.

I’ve met a lot of insane leftists so don’t let his nice clothes and relatively coherent words fool you. He’s as batshit crazy as Moonbeam, Garcetti, Waters, Pelosi and any leader of the Calif. State Assembly, esp. the House.

This Manson parole denial is strictly a political ploy. Nothing else, never will be.

Excellent. A rare moment when I agree with a Democrat.
