This week, we commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the D-Day landings, the largest seaborne invasion in history.
It was the crucial turning point in the war with Adolf Hitler and the Nazis, one that began the liberation of German-occupied France and laid the foundations of the Allied victory on the Western Front.

It was also the moment that most perfectly exemplified and cemented the special relationship between Britain and America, the two nations that provided the vast majority of those who fought the ferocious battle on the beaches.
There were at least 10,000 Allied casualties, with 4,414 confirmed dead.
They, along with everyone who took part in D-Day, will be remembered in a special ceremony in Portsmouth on the south coast of England on Wednesday, attended by the Queen, President Trump and 300 veterans.
That is why Trump has come to Britain for a three-day state visit.
Hes not here as a private individual.
Hes here as the democratically elected President of the United States, still Britains greatest ally.
As such, he represents the 320 million citizens of the U.S. including many who have personal family connections to the D-Day landings and World War 2.
So how has Mayor of London, Englands capital city, responded to this trip?
The answer is with quite staggeringly offensive rudeness.

Was that a pig that just flew past my window?
Piers Morgan isn’t too bad except on the 2nd Amendment. He just can’t figure it out.
Sure Looked like one.
You know Trump wants that balloon so he can fly it over his presidential library.
I agree with Piers? Someone slap me!
Morgan will figure out the 2nd Amendment someday when the brits try to overthrow their asinine oppressive F’d up government.
Ha!
Great comedy duo.
Yeah, most British subjects have trouble understanding that whole 'God given rights' thing.
I would not omit the Canadians.
And when did Piers Morgan become a conservative?!
The Canadians were Brits as part of the Empire
Khan is too busy fighting his imaginary Nazis to worry about celebrating the defeat of the actual Nazis.
Well said. Here in Canada at the Michigan border, great pride is being expressed. Reverence for the sacrifice of lives lost. Locally an 95 year old ex-soldier is being interviewed and has his medals on display.
From England as a child in WW2, I do not forget the lend-lease program and the risks by Americans. This on the liberty ships - some sunk by the U-boats. We would have had terrible food shortages and possibly riots otherwise.
Viewing Khan makes me think of London's illustrious mayor. Richard (Dick) Whittington. (1354-1423). He had an early sewerage system installed and a ward for unmarried mothers. Turning in his grave no doubt. Khan the opposite of all things good about foggy old London Town. (Excuse the rant)
Amazing Pier Morgan is on Trump’s Train...
