Police say a 90-year-old Delaware man refused to detour around a gay pride parade and plowed into an organizer trying to wave him away.

One of the gay pride colors is green. He might have just thought it was the light. He is 90. Just saying. GLAD no one was seriously hurt.
He moved driving barriers out of the way.
He disregarded directions of the Parade organizer.
He rammed into the Parade organizer.
He kept on driving.
Oh, he organized a Black Parade Festival many years ago.
Pops needs to surrender his keys to-day!
This goes beyond just being old and stubborn.
It sounds malicious, for whatever reason.
Seems like a case of ‘I served on the council until 2011 and I know your permit doesn’t allow you to close off this road yet, so get the f out of my way’ followed almost immediately by some idiot standing in front of a moving vehicle after the driver moved the cones.
The question is whether he would have done the same thing if it were an Arbor Day parade getting in his *privileged* way.
Well, if he’s black, nothing is going to happen to him...I think black still trumps gay in the diversity game. But maybe not. Who knows?
In any case, what I’d say is that this man has dementia. A lot of people with that are semi-functional - that is, he could drive, thought about removing the barriers, etc. - but totally nutz and given to weird obsessions. So yes, somebody’s got to take his keys away.
There shouldn’t be any such thing as a “gay pride” parade.
You want to be left alone or is your business public business? Pick one fast because we’re going to pick one for you.

Since the guy probably didn’t think there was such a thing as gay pride, he must have assumed that somebody was trying to stop him for some illegal purpose.
