Sen. Mitt Romney warned Friday that President Donald Trumps proposed tariffs against Mexico were the wrong approach and could harm Americans more than they help curtail illegal immigration.
A tariff targeting Mexico that negatively impacts our own interests will only end in a waiting game of increasingly harmful consequence to the American people, Romney said.

The typical Freeper reaction every time Romney tries to have the last word on anything is best described
here.

Both of us should have paid a lot of attention to his RomneyCare.
You know, people don’t just dabble in Leftist ideology.
If they are going to go to the lengths to nationalize or even at the state level health care, you know they’ve got to be extremely lame across the board.
I voted for him too. I’m sure a lot of folks sat on their hands. Kudos to them.
None of us Capitalists want to see tariffs. We all hope they are being used to bring them down from our trading partners.
With Mexico, it isn’t about trade straight up. It’s about Mexico abusing location to screw our nation over. I’ve had enough of it, and any leader of ours should act on it immediately.
I’m with Trump on this all the way.
I’ll pay more for goods if I have to have them from Mexico. I want illegal aliens stopped cold in their tracks.

Simply don’t buy the Mexican goods and wait for a settlement by which time the tariff will be lifted.
To: shelterguy
Since you are in the senate maybe you could do your job and fix the problem. Just a thought.

Mitt, if government had been doing their job this last, oh say 30 or 40 years running now, a job they are paid quite well to do, a job they took an oath to do, a job that in fact isn't optional, then we wouldn't be having this conversation, we wouldn't have millions of illegal aliens here in the first place. Your particular brand of failure theater "can't get there from here" word salad bullshit is all played out, nobody is having any of it. The constitution isn't a smorgasbord. You know damn well what the laws are, never mind the sentiment of the overwhelming majority of Americans. You, or guys just like you, have been a big part of the problem. A big, big part of the problem. Either support this president, support the American people, or STFU.
To: Trump20162020
Geez, another pretend right-winger who should retire and go away. Mitt, not interested in your opinion. You lost; remember?

“I have a lingering suspicion that Trumps tariffs on Mexico arent aimed at pressuring Mexico to stop the flood of invaders. Theyre aimed at pressuring Congress to change the stupid laws that let every mutant on the planet show up at a border crossing and file a claim for asylum.”
Quote of the day! I had not thought of this before your post but it makes a lot of sense. President Trump is causing greater financial loss to the globalists than there is benefit from open borders to them.

American taxpayers are subsidizing the people smugglers because the employers aren’t being fined. The money keeps going back to the “coyotes”. To deal with illegal immigration; cut the funding. Also, make legal immigration easier. And send illega rep. Omar home to Somalia.
