Swedish Startup to Bring Pogo Sticks to S.F. as E-Scooter Alternative
KPIX ^ | 06-01-2019

San Franciscans may soon be able to bounce their way around town, if a Swedish-based mobility company has its way.

Earlier this month, start-up company Cangoroo announced plans to deploy hundreds of pogo sticks in select cities to directly compete with electric scooters as a transportation option.

Another reason I stay away from that shithole SF. Been living in in San Jose and haven't stepped foot in that filthy cesspool in about 35 years.

I don’t think Pogo sticks are dangerous enough.

Trampolines! That’s the way to go!

Good golly.

It’s way easier to beat someone over the head with a pogo stick than an e-scooter.

And it’s easier to walk that pogo stick.

I don’t even want to think about what San Fran residents would do with pogo sticks.

I had an entire summer of bouncy bliss on a pogo stick ... around 1956 or 7 or 8 .....

You think your legs feel weird after bouncing on a trampopline ?

HAH !

Try pogoing for an hour or so.

I got pretty good at lunging my way forward and getting the "stop" position mid-air.

And you can cover some ground when y'get good at it.

That’s right. A peeping Tom on a pogo stick.

Come squish down on a turd...

Makes an interesting spatter pattern, but people nearby get the benefit.

A pogo stick seems like a really inefficient way of getting around, but maybe it just seems that way because they look so silly. I’d like to see an energy analysis of pogo-locomotion.

Bad idea. Lots of potholes. Lots of cracked sidewalks with many obstacles. City pushed residents to plant trees in sidewalks. As the trees grew, the roots raised sidewalk slabs and cracked many, resulting in danger for pedestrians. Not to mention the cut-outs in the slabs for the trees. Then there’s the fact that SF is a city of steep hills - good luck using a pogo stick going up or down hills.

WTF!! Only in San Francisco would this even be possible. I would like to see the first couple of pogo attempts at the city hills.

This would be awesome!!!
