Trump Tweets About Roy Moore

Republicans cannot allow themselves to again lose the Senate seat in the Great State of Alabama. This time it will be for Six Years, not just Two. I have NOTHING against Roy Moore, and unlike many other Republican leaders, wanted him to win. But he didn’t, and probably won’t.....

More ...If Alabama does not elect a Republican to the Senate in 2020, many of the incredible gains that we have made during my Presidency may be lost, including our Pro-Life victories. Roy Moore cannot win, and the consequences will be devastating....Judges and Supreme Court Justices! 8,678 replies 15,066 retweets 60,477 likes

Shelby may or may not have done the right thing, but I suspect the ridiculous accusations against Moore had nothing to do with it. The real problem the GOP has with Moore was that he’d been a royal pain in the ass in Alabama GOP politics for years.

Yes he had. I think he was too "countryfied" and too "declasse" for their tastes. Also he wanted to fight with oppressive Federal edicts, and they just wanted to get along.

Those guys undermined Moore because they knew damn well that he would be one of the most unreliable GOP votes in the U.S. Senate on almost ANY issue.

I don't believe that at all. I think the "establishment" undermined him because they knew they wouldn't be able to schmooze him into business as usual. Moore would have been a reformer, and he would have probably embarrassed them constantly by appealing to God and stuff.

They probably saw him as a Public Relations nightmare for the other Republicans in more liberal/moderate states.

“No basis in reality?” Maybe. But everything you’ve posted is also pure speculation ... because Moore has NO LEGISLATIVE RECORD to support what you’re saying.

Can you think of a single U.S. Senate bill from 2018 that would have met Moore’s “pro-Constitutional” standards?

I can’t — because you will find constitutional flaws with every one of them.

I wouldn’t even have counted on Moore to vote for Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation to the U.S. Supreme Court ... and that’s really saying something.

I’ve posted this to you before. I totally respect your support for Moore, but his antics in the 2006 and 2010 GOP primaries for the governor’s race really ended his career in politics. You can’t betray a major political party like that and then expect them to support you in the future.

I wish we had a bunch of Roy Moores in Congress right now, but the guy really is a political amateur who is simply not suited for these offices.

If this guy were a leftist flake, again, it would’ve been readily apparent when he was on the bench. This guy was utterly fearless on the bench in standing up to leftist tyranny. He would’ve had to have done a total 180 when in the Senate to do what you believe. It just doesn’t wash.

I'm not suggesting he's a leftist flake at all. I'm suggesting that he would vote like one for the same reason Justine Amash votes like one.

Amash was one of the few Republicans who voted against the ObamaCare "repeal" bill in 2017.

He voted against it because it "wasn't good enough." He's right, and it's good that he's got principles. But voting against a half-assed "repeal" means we still have a 100% steaming-pile-of-sh!t ObamaCare.

This is exactly how I could see Roy Moore conducting himself in the U.S. Senate.

You make a good point about Reagan but that was for the nomination not a vote of the electorate for the office.

I want a sure thing. Alabama should be a sure thing.

Agreed. First rule of politics -get elected. Then you can pursue your agenda. If Moore can’t find a way to get elected, and stay elected even with the smears thrown at him, then he is an amateur.

Yes - and that was with both parties aggressively attacking him.

The RINOpublicans will never be ousted by submitting to their vicious tactics.

I wonder what the RINO GOP Machine will produce this time..

I sure hope they don't run the corrupt Luther Strange again. But it wouldn't surprise me if they did.

I think I had seen the same thread a few weeks ago. I wish Brooks would run. I am not sure why it seems so difficult to get a viable rep candidate here. And I agree...almost!

With the Republican party telling folks not to vote for Moore, what would anyone expect.

Not every recognizes that party for what it is, like we do.

THE REPUBLICAN PARTY IS DEMOCRAT LITE (and not always lite either)

I’d like to see anyone do good when every entity is trashing them.

If we wouldn’t eat our own, we would be much more likely to have a sure thing.

Moor only lost by 1.4%. That’s hardly a looser showing > IMO.

Right? Didn’t we know that by now. Seriously.

This treatment Moore got goes against everything we stand for.

Aww, the GOPe trashed him and our Congresspersons trashed him and did robocalls against him.

Isn’t this the very thing we’ve been saying, the GOPe and the RNC are not our fellow travelers?

Why yes it is. Now all of a sudden Roy Moore is the bad guy.

No, the entities listed are. We get it, and then we ignore it the next time it happens.

Moore is a friggin retard and his campaign is a perpetual dumpster fire. Even his wife contributed a suitably cringy “our lawyer is a Jew!” comment as a cherry on top. Deport him please, POTUS.

Moore made an ass of himself and will not be taken serious if he runs again....pulling the handgun out was clumsy and it seemed like he didn’t really think about it before he did it..no matter his thoughts, the optics were bad and he didn’t do a good job defending himself against the attacks.

There just is no evidence he would vote like Amash. He’d have been easily defeated in the 2020 primary if he went full Libertoonian.

Nobody could get elected with that level of slander aimed at them. Nobody.
