One of the highlights of Sunday night was a clearly stunned Tommy Robinson (real name Stephen Yaxley-Lennon) fleeing the count in Manchester after realising that his hope of becoming an MEP was shattered. He polled just 2.2%, taking only 39,000 votes in the north west and lost his deposit.
When he first announced his candidacy, it seemed inconceivable that the man who had founded the English Defence League could become an MEP. Yet we also knew that he was the best-known far-right activist since the second world war, and better known than most of our politicians.
Over half the British public had heard of him, and while there was overwhelming opposition to him, 5% of society viewed him positively. As a consequence, we took his candidature seriously. Private polling commissioned by Hope Not Hate of 1,100 voters in the North West electoral area found support for Yaxley-Lennon on just 1.5%, well below the 8.5% he needed to stand a chance of winning a seat. However, we were conscious that this probably underestimated his support not least because the typical Yaxley-Lennon supporter was probably less likely to be on a YouGov survey panel.

The Guardian is on auto-barf as far as I’m concerned.
LOL.
Probably their concentration on sliming the ukippers contributed to the Brexit party margin.
Are the English doing some California-Style vote counting?
I recall hearing of wooden boxes full of uncounted absentee votes ‘suddenly discovered’ floating in the San Francisco Bay just weeks after a close Mayoral election. As far as I recall, nobody went to jail or was even indicted.
Maybe 15 years ago.
The guardian is a bloody leftist rag. It deserves no recognition at all.
Robinson was de-platformed and has zero social media presence.
The Postal system wouldn’t deliver his flyers either.
The actual story here is that the British globalist elite were horrified at how hard they had to work to suppress the vote for Robinson. They even had their compliant police force escort gangs of Islamicists to throw bricks at his rallies.
How did your efforts to suppress (future Prime Minister) Nigel Farage go guys?
The guy couldn’t even campaign! He was totally deplatformed on Social Media, hounded at public events and when he tried to send campaign literature by mail the postal workers union refused to allow letter carriers to deliver them. What was done to him is outrageous.
Likely.
This is what the media does.
So the Neo Nazi’s of Europe like to gloat over the results of their tyranny. Some things never change.
That should be illegal, and probably is.
Slander and complete suppression of his ability to get his message out on social media or the internet.
This is their template for Trump 2020. They will allow Trump to remain online...but will ruthlessly censor his followers from spreading the message between themselves and to others.
Tommy stayed with Ukip, which probably doomed him from the get-go. On top of that, they pulled out all the stops and went full-Goebbels on him. Now they’re crowing about how successful they were, and will probably do it again at the next opportunity to the next target. Europe is on the way down. Nigel Farrage might manage to pull the UK out of the vortex on time. Let’s pray that he does.
Trump is too big for them to take down. Might as well challenge Richard The Lionheart to single combat as try to win the information war with this one. He lives rent free in their head. If they mess with his Twitter, he’ll find a different way.
Also, people no longer get involved enough to read the news. So if presumably he had to run under his real name Stephen Yaxley-Lennon and not "Tommy Robinson", he lost points from lack of name recognition on the ballot.
I think I heard that he actually faired better than any other independent candidate has. So while he may have encountered adversity, he did well despite.
The media did a full attack on him, whilst social media banned him. Now they laugh at how their NAZI tactics worked, and then they have the nerve to say they’re not NAZIs
They are worse than the USSR now. It’s criminal, as he keeps reminding his listeners, what used to be English common law.
