Gun Rights Group Targets Trump’s ‘Anti-Gun’ ATF Pick

In a national email, the National Association for Gun Rights announced that the Trump administration just made an anti-gunner the next ATF Director.

Chuck Canterbury is the presumptive nominee at the ATF based on an announcement made on Friday.

According to the NAGR President Dudley Brown, Canterbury has a “long history of publicly supporting and endorsing anti-gun policies, anti-gun Supreme Court nominees, and anti-gun high ranking government officials.”

As President of the National Fraternal Order of Police, Canterbury has supported anti-gun Supreme Court Justices like Sonia Sotomayor and former Attorney General Eric Holder, who ran the notorious Fast and Furious gun running program.

On top of that, Canterbury supported the expansion of the federal government’s gun registration schemes.

Brown reported that Canterbury’s FOP is “currently lobbying AGAINST Constitutional Carry, even though the vast majority of law enforcement officers support the right to carry.”

In Brown’s view, this is “troubling news.”

Ultimately the no compromise leader called for an ATF Director “who wants to tear down gun control, not expand it.”

Brown then promised to keep NAGR members informed of everything that goes on during this process.

“I cannot believe that Pres. Trump would nominate an anti-gun rights person.”

Why? I voted for PDJT and I’m glad I did. However. He has given us more gun control in 3 years than Obama did in 8. That’s not hyperbole. That’s cold hard fact.

This place needs to get its head out of its ass where gun control and Trump are concerned. Bump stock ban didn’t do it, maybe this will.

The guy is a douche for sure, the main reason I’m not a member of his group.

If only the NRA would get its crap together before the state of New York puts them all in prison.

Thanks for info. I’m just curious as to the veracity of the contention that Trump would appoint such an anti gun character as they claim Canterbery to be.

There was no distinction between the quote and your words so I wasn’t sure.

I gave up on distinctions when the FR html format changed back in history. Used to use quotes thereafter but no one seemed to care so...

I’ll agree with your disagree, however, I do believe it most important for the four or five heavies to at least be on the same page leading the fight. As it stands they behave more like political parties fighting for every scrap of relativity, rather than standing for a no compromise second amendment.

Thank you for your support of our rights.

I am very disappointed in the NRA. Each mailing I receive, filling in all the guns I want to win, I don’t give any extra money, and I write BUMP STOCKS someplace on the form.

I really hope NRA finds its way.

Supporting GOA as well.
