The FBI tried to destroy the reputation of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr as controversial unearthed files reveal. Shocking details of the FBIs smear campaign against MLK Jr have been found on secret tapes, it is claimed. Its is alleged the agency accused the celebrated civil-rights campaigner of having up to 40 affairs.
~[snip} J Edgar Hoover, who believed he had Communist Party ties. Details of the covert tapes have been revealed by biographer David Garrow, ...
MLks secret heartache and the white woman he could never marry.... Hoover feared [King's] popular movement could destabilise the country.
Agents honed in on Kings philandering and claims he fathered a child claims which Garrow argues could lead to painful historical reckoning. Although the tapes, recorded by bugs in two lamps in hotel rooms booked by King in January, 1964, are ... at the US National Archives, the author unearthed the FBI summaries of the various incidents.
He claims they show King had extramarital affairs with up to 45 women and, shockingly, even looked on and laughed as pastor friend Logan Kearse raped a parishioner. The recording from the Willard Hotel, near the White House, shows how King was accompanied by Kearse, (died 1991), along with female parishioners of his church. In his hotel room, the files claim, they then discussed which women among the parishioners would be suitable for natural and unnatural sex acts.
... when one of the women protested that she did not approve, the Baptist minister immediately and forcefully raped her as King watched. He is alleged to have looked on, laughed and offered advice during the attack. FBI agents were in the room next door, but did not intervene.

I don’t believe it. Knowing what we now know about the alphabets, they are corrupt as the day is long. The government was attempting to destroy Dr.King just as they have many others since.
Blaming it all on Hoover or tampered recordings is not accurate. All has been well known for years (except for the King egging -on Pastor Rapist.)
King’s best friend and right-hand man defined with explicit details numerous MLK trysts and orgies. This was included in his CR book released in 1989, “When the Walls came Tumbling Down.” He was denounced for this and several other things he wrote negatively about. Like devoting an entire chapter on what and egotistical stooge Jesse Jackson was during the CR marches.
This excerpt is was written in 2014 ... It begins by condemning King’s plagiarized Doctoral Dissertation and other charges of plagiarism outlined in his speeches. Then it moves on to King’s sexual activities.
“The recordings, and the incidents they revealed, shocked the FBI. Many times, King recruited multiple women who appear to have been a mix of groupies and prostitutes, and who may have been paid with SCLC money for post-speech trysts that ranged from plain 1-on-1 encounters to orgies involving half a dozen people.
Several other clergymen in his entourage were typically present for these indiscretions, according to Kings closest friend Ralph Abernathy, who drew criticism for airing Kings dirty laundry in his 1989 memoirs. According to Abernathy, just about everybody attached to King believed in Christian moral precepts, but they had a hard time keeping to them. When King traveled to Oslo to receive the 1964 Nobel Peace Prize, for example, two of his associates nearly got themselves kicked out of the hotel when staff caught them chasing nearly naked prostitutes through the halls.
King was especially fond of arranging sex with women he met at his speeches. According to one of his associates, both black and white women would pass King their phone numbers or hotel room keys minutes after meeting him. Nobody who knew him then seems to remember an occasion when he passed up such an invitation. These escapades eventually became common knowledge.
Interviewed in private years later, even Jackie Onassis admitted that Robert Kennedy had told her all about the FBI recordings, and that what he knew appalled her. Some anonymous person at the FBI even sent copies of the tapes to both King and his wife.
King allegedly brushed off the exposure with a remark about being surprised that they knew so much about him, while Scott later claimed that she couldnt make out what she heard and ignored the whole thing. Years later, Scott told an interviewer that she never asked King about infidelity; she didnt want to bother him over a thing like that, she said.”

Remember when BJ became a popular term?
Sure you do or you wouldnt have the opinion you do, unless of course you were a MLK confidant.
1995?
Jackie and Bobby knew about it. And It looks like it’s all been well documented for decades going back to the 60’s and then in 1989 when King’s best friend wrote all about it. Only the rape portion is new.
His plagiarism and his continuous reckless sexual encounters were a great part of who he was and enjoin his ‘legacy.’

Few here will like you posting the truth about a Saint.
The Past is never certain.
History is just an agreed upon set of lies and half truths.
Amen! great post. I have no doubt God used MLK for a reason and had a job to do. Evil (Deep State) will do anything to smear a person’s name Not one person in the bible were perfect yet God used them to fulfill God’s will on Earth.
Didn't say they were, both of them were philanderers. The point was she was in a better position to have first hand knowledge than the average citizen. They probably yucked it up in those quiet times, if there were any.
How many here remember how many nights Jackie spent on Onassis's yacht before John was assassinated?

Alex Haleys 1965 Playboy Interview with Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.
From the time J. Edgar Hoover birthed the baby, the FBI has been heavily invested in self-promotion. I’d like to believe that the FBI has solved many difficult crimes, and that for most things, the FBI has been “reliable”, but have no way of knowing for sure. There are certainly many known cases of unreliability, including the failure to discern or catch extensive Soviet spy operations from the 1920s through the McCarty era, the FBI crime lab debacle, etc. A self-made myth of your own super-competence and incorruptibility sets the FBI up for looking worse than it probably is.
“Agreed. If those tapes existed, they would have been used to destroy him.”
One of my friends in college in the 1960s was the son of a Washington Evening Star columnist. This friend told me about the existence of FBI tapes, widely known among DC insiders like his father, that documented King’s philandering behavior. I don’t know if these are the same tapes. I do clearly remember being told that one of the tapes had King boasting, “I is the king of the p***y eaters.”
” ... the FBI was run by a prancing homosexual in womens clothing.”
This characterization of Hoover has been largely discredited.

Do you prefer the actual Truth or the legend?
Sorry, but this new information on King was found by David Garrow- a devoted historian and biographer. He wrote the book, “Bearing the Cross: Martin Luther King, Jr., and the Southern ...”
[Winner of the 1987 Pulitzer Prize for Biography and the Robert F. Kennedy Book Award, this is the most comprehensive book ever written about the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Based on more than seven hundred interviews with all of King’s surviving associates, as well as with those who opposed him, and enhanced by the author’s access to King’s personal papers and tens of thousands of ...]
Most of the information about repeated illicit sex with prostitutes and others, orgies, etc has been well documented for decades. Nothing new here, with the exception of King’s witness and encouragement of the rape. Sadly, it fits in with his best friend’s stories about him as written in 1989 and mentioned in this excerpt by a Civil Rights activist in 2014. That would be Ralph Abernathy, the man who was inseparable from King and cradled his head as he died from a gunshot wound.
King began his civil rights career by plagiarizing his doctoral thesis. Then he continued to plagiarize many others’ writings throughout his speeches. His sexual depravity is off the charts and grossly contradicts the reverend’s pious teachings. This guy smeared himself throughout his entire adult life right up until the night he died. Too many participants, witnesses, hotels, motels, and Baptist preacher accomplices. The Deep State was likely never so highly entertained. It’s a wonder this man was not completely exhausted every time him walked to the podium to speak.

They want a national holiday for him? Ridiculous.
Using the tapes would be very messy and neither he nor his wife who were sent the tapes seemed to care.
He was warned to purge his organization of communist activists. He refused and Instead -he- got- dead.
Find it in a seance? Jury find him guilty? Odd, and here I thought after Kavanaugh wed have learned our lessons? Silly me to think otherwise when a narrative is what counts most.
So you think the same author, David Garrow, who interviewed over 700 MLK associates and won a Pultizer Prize for his book on King “Blessed Be the Cross,” has created a horrible narrative about his Civil Rights hero?
And the same highly respected historian who wrote that MLK book and this in 2009,
https://www.newsweek.com/david-garrow-dr-kings-true-legacy-77927
could be a promoter of hateful lies and sexual innuendo?
And what about King’s best friend, Abernathy, the one who cradled Martin’s head as he laid dying and continued his CR legacy? Is he also a liar with a false agenda when it comes to relating his life on the road with MLK- sharing hotel rooms?

Walter Duranty won a Pulitzer Prize, too.
