U.S. manufacturer growth hit a multiyear low in May, the latest sign that the trade war may be slowing the economy.
The U.S. manufacturing PMI (purchasing managers index) was 50.6 in May, the lowest level since September 2009, according to results from financial data firm IHS Markit released Thursday.

The Federal Reserve is causing the decrease in sales, not trade worries.
God only knows how this vile scum manipulated these numbers.
Trade war / protectionism, when used against an appropriate trading partner, should be beneficial to manufacturing (and from what I’ve seen, it has been).
Is there’s bad news, I’d look for the cause elsewhere, or fake news trying to spin anti-Trump, OR maybe the sentiment is real, but only because the companies have been taken over by soy boys who think continual surrender is the path to success.
And the source is an NBC-related organization.
The PMI is based on five major survey areas: new orders, inventory levels, production, supplier deliveries, and employment. The ISM weighs each of these survey areas equally. The surveys include questions about business conditions and any changes, whether it be improving, no changes, or deteriorating.
There's some other things indicating the economy is slowing as well. What's misleading in the article IMO is attributing it to the trade war, which is based on a single statement by an economist. I believe the Fed is continuing to draw money out of the economy through open market operations, and the lunatic Powell and someone else at the Fed just said that inflation remains the big threat. I think it's the Fed.
Babra Stiesand... boy I hope I misspelled all that.
What is your point? Did they make up the PMI results?
I think it's mainly the Fed.

Bummer if true, but there will never be a long term gain vis a vis China if we’re not willing to experience some short term pain.
By the way, NBC, how is the ChiCom economy doing by comparison?
NBC in the tank for the chiComs ... and own Biden
says survey by IHS Markit they look like globalists to me.

Ummm, negative. I am in the know when it comes to manufacturing in this country because I live it ie. Automated manufacturing systems in aerospace, medical, automotive, and firearms production. Been doing it since 1991 and have seen/lived ALL of the ups and downs in mfg. since. Things are booming folks. Period. Now in Northern Alabama. Was Boeing in Washington state for years.... Take it from an old soldier on the front line of this issue, if you want a good job for a long time, learn a high tech manufacturing trade skill. CAD/CAM/CAE robotics, 3D metallic printing. Amazing processes that will blow ones mind these days.
The PMI is compiled and released monthly by the Institute for Supply Management (ISM). The PMI is based on a monthly survey sent to senior executives at more than 400 companies in 19 primary industries, which are weighted by their contribution to GDP. The PMI is based on five major survey areas: new orders, inventory levels, production, supplier deliveries, and employment. The ISM weighs each of these survey areas equally. The surveys include questions about business conditions and any changes, whether it be improving, no changes, or deteriorating.
The statement that it was the lowest since 2009 apparently comes from IHS Markit. I don't think they made that up if - that's what you're suggesting.
it’s worse in china.
Lead time for cut material was six weeks a year ago, now its a week.
I don't think they made that up if - that's what you're suggesting.Yea, no one ever makes shit up...Is that what you think?
Lead time for cut material was six weeks a year ago, now its a week. That sounds more like increased production to me
Would you say it was better if the lead time was 8 weeks now compared to 6 weeks a year ago?
Just trying to follow your logic here.
I have worked in CNC since 1965.
And yes, always short of programmers for CNC. Retired for 21 years.
By far it is much worse in China. Xi is preparing the Chinese masses for the long March.
