Acting in the interests of transparency and justice, President Trump took exactly the right action Thursday night when he gave Attorney General William Barr new authority to disclose information dealing with what Barr has called “spying” on the Trump election campaign in 2016.
The president issued a memorandum authorizing Barr to “declassify, downgrade, or direct the declassification or downgrading” of any information relevant to “intelligence activities” connected to the “2016 Presidential election.”
President Trump’s action is long overdue and should be welcomed by everyone who advocates more government disclosure about its activities – including journalists, who are always seeking such information.
Unfortunately, many Democrats and journalists immediately attacked the president for his new action favoring disclosure – in the same week they embraced the claim by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi that Trump is engaged in a “cover-up” to hide information from the public.

This is why it was so bizarre when Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., accused Trump and the attorney general in a tweet of conspiring to “weaponize law enforcement and classified information against their political enemies. The cover-up has entered a new and dangerous phase.”
Cover-up? Does Schiff understand the meaning of the term?
Schiff’s cover-up charge makes no sense. The Trump memo calls for uncovering more information – not covering anything up. A presidential order to declassify and make public all information connected to a particular investigation is the exact opposite of a cover-up.
And it’s ironic that some of the same Democrats demanding the release of the full unredacted Mueller report – including legally protected information presented to grand juries and classified national security information – are now attacking the president for wanting to release more information about the origins of the Mueller problem.
If anyone can be accused of a cover-up it is Schiff...

It is not overdue. It is strategically timed perfectly. Earlier might have aborted processes that needed to be completed first. It might have left Peolsi et al with valid sounding arguments. Don’t second guess the MAGA man. Ultimately he may fail, but no one else can keep it together well enough to get even so far as DJT has come. One has to remember that the enemy is the Press, the SocialDemocrats, almost the entire bureaucracy, and much of the Republican Party. I can’t imagine any other politician on the scene who could retain clear sight and resolve through the crap that has been slung at this president.

The Press, Hollywood, Academia, the DC Bureaucracy and Political class, the Globalist Industrial lobby.... the list goes on and on... and his America First agenda is obviously a mortal threat to all of them.
I was a very early supporter of candidate Trump in 2015 because of the way he freely spoke his mind in non pc terms about illegal invasion, and then stood up to the fake news tyranny.
But I will admit it: I badly underestimated him. I had no idea then that he would take on so many enemies and stand up to so much corruption from so many directions! Amazing! We got lucky!

saud "he had evidence but couldnt show it," suggesting to a national audience that he, alone, had privileged
information nobody else had.
Why is Schiff's statement so shocking? B/c it's true.....and mentioning that he had such information is an "illegal leak."

Schiff's position allows him to see top secret data WRT the safety and security of Americans.

Schiff is one of the disgruntled Hillary Democrats who never saw the Trump win coming and have spent their time---
since the day Trump was elected---trying to discredit the president.

At no time did Schiff advise these agencies that foreigners accessed intel data that could be used to imperil the safety and security of Americans.

I heartily disagree. We were extremely fortunate that Donald Trump ever decided to make this great personal sacrifice in the first place.
He had other options for how he could spend the golden years of his life, to say the least.
If you are making the point that - since so many of his supporters worked so hard to get him elected - the idea that luck had anything to do with it is somehow offensive to you - well, I’m sorry you feel that way.
Acknowledging our good fortune in no way diminishes all that hard work.
Considering the situation, that any other candidate winning,in 2016, Republican or Democrat, it is likely the Republic would be over, I lean toward the explanation of at least Divine Nudge rather than “we got lucky.” Reagan coming at such a point and then Trump at the necessary time seems too much to hope for from Lady Luck.
