I heartily disagree. We were extremely fortunate that Donald Trump ever decided to make this great personal sacrifice in the first place.
He had other options for how he could spend the golden years of his life, to say the least.
If you are making the point that - since so many of his supporters worked so hard to get him elected - the idea that luck had anything to do with it is somehow offensive to you - well, Im sorry you feel that way.
Acknowledging our good fortune in no way diminishes all that hard work.
Considering the situation, that any other candidate winning,in 2016, Republican or Democrat, it is likely the Republic would be over, I lean toward the explanation of at least Divine Nudge rather than “we got lucky.” Reagan coming at such a point and then Trump at the necessary time seems too much to hope for from Lady Luck.
