I have no idea when they started flying the big flag, but getting it in the news is something they are likely doing to curry favor with the public.
My guess is that THEY got people on the governing board to make the flag rule so they could get in the news.
They pissed off sportsmen, gun owners, and conservatives a couple years ago and their stock is now dropping like a rock.
The company is run by a bunch of slime balls.
“The company made no mention of the fact that the city had already changed the relevant ordinance to allow flags 10 times larger than before, nor that the city had granted Camping World a permit for a flag that would have measured 25 by 40 feet (1,000 square feet), nor that the court injunction, if ordered, would allow the company to replace the existing flag with a smaller one. As such, Camping Worlds Facebook post and Change.org petition were woefully and misleadingly lacking in highly-relevant context.”

Just what I thought, the guy is a lying slime ball.
Out of idle curiosity, WHY do you trust “snopes”, which is owned/operated by leftists on ANY subject??
“Snopes” has been caught numerous times “shading the truth” to favor the DIMocRATS & PRO-abortion kooks.
(Fyi, I’m a Tea-partier & wouldn’t trust “snopes” on any subject, after some of the “mainstream media” LIES that they backed-up about the Tea Party.)
Fwiw, I’ve been a CAMPING WORLD customer since I was a “full-time RVer” (for several years) in 1984 & even then they were flying the BIG flags. = I’ve always been satisfied with their services/products.

The 1500 square foot, 30 X 50 flag was referred to at The Citadel as a Garrison Flag.
Was quite the scene to watch it raised in the morning and lowered in the evening.
In a strong wind when that thing would “POP” it sounded like a gunshot.
They are worthless liberal pukes.
It’s new ownership.
Thanks for the heads up. I hadnt heard about the previous controversy.
Hard to find credible sources two years after his statement. I can easily find a bunch of miss-quotes, claiming he told Trump supporters to not shop in his stores. Thats NOT what he said.
There was a lot a fake news flooding the ether after Charlottesville... still is.
I did also read the apology he made, days after those remarks.
I choose to accept his apology, and will continue to support his efforts to fly the flag. I wont shop there, but... I dont have any near me anyway. :-)
Inasmuch as I no longer am a “full-timer” (I sold my travel trailer & now wish that I had NOT.), I know ZILCH about the “new management”.
Do you have ACTUAL knowledge of the new owners & WHERE did you get the info??

No some journalist I think. I was too busy looking at him and his goofy expressions to catch who he was.
He actually looks like a cross between Alfred E. Neuman and Ben Stiller. 8>)
Go look it up.
It’s in the link I posted in #25.
In other words, you KNOWW NOTHING whatever about the company except what is in an editorial the DALLAS MORNING NEWS??
There was a time that I would have accepted a REAL NEWS STORY in the Dallas paper but NO MORE.= I had subscription for years & years, until I discovered that the DMN was routinely lying to cover-up for FOR Barack Hussein Obama.
WHEN/IF you have some documented FACTS from TRUSTWORTHY sources, be sure & tell everyone.

That’s fine and dandy. But it’s all kinda irrelevant, if CW has been flying 3200 sq. ft. flags for several years, as other posters state. And... You answered none of my questions.
Many businesses do promos. It’s what they (well, lots of them) do. Pretty much any angle they can figure, usually...
I’m more interested in why the city can tell a business how large a flag they can fly, assuming there’s no safety issue or obstruction of a “view”, say of another business’ sign from the nearby road, or of a traffic signal. What would be your take if they said any flag over, to pick an arbitrary number, 90% of the size of YOUR flag was “illegal” to fly?
