[Teresa] May's last day in power before she meets her 'final executioner' TOMORROW [ed] [tr]

Theresa May is scrambling to salvage something from the wreckage of her premiership today after a Cabinet mutiny effectively killed off her Brexit plans. The Prime Minister is holed up in Downing Street with her closest aides as the sun sets on her time in power - with a resignation announcement seen as inevitable after she meets Tory 1922 chief Graham Brady tomorrow. She is expected to meet Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt and Home Secretary Sajid Javid later as she faces pressure to scrap her promise of a referendum vote from the Withdrawal Agreement Bill. The move sparked a furious response from Tories - with Commons leader Andrea Leadsom dramatically quitting last night and putting the last nail in Mrs May's coffin.

Trying to figure out how she can betray the people one last time.

If she had a hand in Spygate, she didn’t just betray her fellow Brits...

Fellow FReepers, let’s be civil.

Anyway, this is good news I guess. But I don’t know if the Conservative party has a future any more.

If a new PM declared WTO Brexit, he/she would not be trusted nor believed. Only extraordinarily decisive action can save the CON party now.

The Brexit cleavage line in UK politics will make the old LAB/CON division pointless. Possibly both parties will disappear.

The CON party retains formidable assets and talents, but they have been pulled down by the gormless losers and chancers who have risen to the top of the party.

Lions led by donkeys.

Oh, she would certainly had a hand in SpyGate, and in many other half-assed scams like the Skripal affair.

She was an unprincipled, surveillance-minded Home Secretary. She brought that mindset to 10 Downing Street.

She would have colluded with Obama to betray Americans as well.

Aren’t all executioners, by definition, “final”?

My bet is her leaving has more to do with Spygate unraveling than Brexit.

Brexit’s the dandy excuse.

And if the Uniparty across The Pond has its way, the UK still ain’t going anywhere.

The beginning of the punishments for Spygate. More heads shall roll.

I believe with Trump’s imminent visit (A week or so) you are going to see this take a turn where their Uniparty is going to take a serious hit.

Theresa has been a dead woman walking since the General Elections 2017. Yet she clings on, like a limpet with 17 lives. I wouldn’t count her out just yet

Exactly. Promoted way beyond capability

Interesting idea!

But the utter collapse of the Conservative party along all vectors has got to be the proximate reason.

May will slink away to where all of the most out-of-touch, democratically-rejected politicians go.

She is connected and can name names, so she will get some cushy job funded by the EU. She may even become a Commissioner.

Oh, guys, I think she did exactly what she was supposed to do. She’s not an idiot. She’s a useful idiot. The two are not mutually exclusive.

If anyone does, let’s pray it’s the Uniparty. FWIW, I wish Trump wouldn’t go. I think he’d be safer visiting North Korea.

I hope he stays safe.

I admire his timing though. He’ll be just in time to congratulate Nigel Farage (or so I hope).

And if there’s a SpyGate component to his visit, that’s perfect timing too.

FWIW, I am a firm believer in trust but verify. And this one case where I would be ****ing delighted to be wrong.

The director of GCHQ, a UK spy agency, announced his resignation two days after Trump was inaugurated. He resigned for “personal reasons”.
