The giant guitar-shaped hotel is one step closer to reality, whether you want it to be or not.

And now we have an opening date.

When the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is open, there’s going to be a lot to see. A 10-acre lagoon-style pool with cabanas. Private cabanas. Water sports activities like paddle boarding. A day club and private pool area.

There will also be 3,000 new slot machines, 193 table games and a 46-table poker room, plus 30 new restaurants lounges and bars. There will also be a new Hard Rock Live concert venue.

I went to the Hard Rock in Las Vegas. What a joke. Dumpy, silly. Incredibly lame young people loitering around, trying to look edgy.

They have these signs at the entrance to various rooms, warning people that they might be in a movie if they come inside, and that by entering the room they surrender property rights to their image and likeness. What a joke.

I hate Vegas and everything about it.

It used to be a great place, but now, you couldn’t pay me to go back there.

I was driving from SWFL to Miami last month and saw the construction from far away on the highway. My God what an eyesore that thing is!!

That Vegas casino is so tired. It was a great spot 15 years ago. I stopped in a few years ago and it was horrible.

Yeah, I really wasn’t very impressed by it.

They don’t even hide the fact that they’re looking for large numbers of the most stupid, brain-dead morons they can find to bring there and dangle shiny objects in front of while they pick their pockets. Like some kind of gaudy death-trap.

The fountains at the Bellagio were utterly non-impressive.

It was actually a better deal when the Mob ran Vegas. They were only really interested in making money from gambling so everything else was incredibly CHEAP. Later the corporate bean counters came in and monetized everything at a much higher rate.

Yes, the closing soliloquy in the movie “Casino” said it best.

At least they had the decency to warn you about a place you chose to enter.

I was once on the sidelines of a parade. A float sponsored by the ‘Travel Channel’ (not the parade, just the float) had a big sign with lots of legal type stating that your presence anywhere at the parade gave them the right to film you and to your likeness, etc. They need a caning.

I'm old enough to remember when Las Vegas was a cheap vacation (provided you didn't gamble like a drunken sailor). I remember getting hotel rooms for practically nothing and air fares were under $100 each way. They basically gave the food away at those buffets and so long as you sat at a slot machine or a gaming table, the drinks kept coming and coming.

Now as you say, everything is monetized, right down to those $10 "yard long margaritas" which actually contains maybe 10 ounces of liquid in those narrow ice filled tubes.

Still some good deals can be had off the strip. We like to go to breakfast at those "Egg-and-I" restaurants where you can get a scramble on the cheap with bottomless black coffee.

Years ago, I stayed at a place on the strip that had a huge swimming pool like described in the article. Not sure if it was 11 acres but it was pretty darn large. I wore myself out just swimming across it. The pool even had a full bar in the middle of it where you could swim up and order a mai tai. Just give the bartender your room number and it would be charged to your room. Those were the days. I saw some swimmers slamming one drink after another and I tried not to think too hard about whether or not they left the pool to use the restroom or if they just urinated in place.

I remember when they handed out Shrimp cocktail cups on the Strip.

I like it and it’s free advertising for many years to come.
It’s in an old run down commercial area so it’s a big improvement.

When finished there will be spot lights on the top shining straight up. The light beam will be the neck of the guitar.

I agree. Joe Pesci getting his ass kicked in the corn field was even better than him anticipating becoming Made and getting shot in Goodfellas.

LOL, by the same actor who played Billy Batts.
Actually the two of them were the closest of friends in real life.
