BOSTON - People convicted of murdering a police officer in Massachusetts could face the death penalty under a new bill filed by state lawmakers, the Boston Herald reported.
Rep. Shaunna OConnell and Rep. David DeCoste filed the bill that would give judges the option to sentence people over the age of 18 to death for killing a police officer.
The pair filed the bill in response to the deaths of Weymouth police Sgt. Michael Chesna, Yarmouth police Sgt. Sean Gannon and Auburn police Officer Ronald Tarentino, the Herald reported.
Massachusetts Citizens Against the Death Penalty is against the bill, saying the death penalty "perpetuates a cycle of revenge."

Why just cop killers?
Any one killing another person should get the the death penalty. And it should be swift. None of this languishing on death row for 25 years.

A: ‘Cuz the ‘po-po’, like politicians, go by the same creed: Some animals are more equal than others.
Massachusetts will send killers to the US Senate instead.
It happened once, it can happen again.
No lifetime thing for murderers.
A couple of years max wait, for appeals since the wrong person does get convicted every so often. Or railroaded.
Ask Daniel Faulkner’s widow how well that works out.
Yes, of course
In The Peoples Republic of Mass-2-s#$&?... CMON!!
I’m with you.
No disrespect to our men and women in blue,
but arbitrarily valuing one human life more than another
puts us on a slippery moral slope.
When was the last time MA executed anyone? Pure political posturing.
How about baby killers? As the Zodiac Killer said, “there is more glory in killing a cop than a kid because a cop can shoot back.”
That's more than generous.
Death penalty in Massachusetts?
Lethal injection? Nope
Electric chair? Nope
Firing squad? Nope
Hanging? Nope
Old age? Yep
The President called for this in a recent speech.
“People convicted of murdering a police officer in Massachusetts could face the death penalty under a new bill..”
How about the rest of humanity in that foul state?
