From reparations to "baby bonds," Democratic candidates are proposing big ideas to confront inequality.
If you’ve been to an event with a Democrat running for president this year, there's a good chance you’ve heard about it: the racial wealth gap.
Candidates are regularly bringing up the fact that the typical black family has only one-tenth the assets of the typical white family — a divide that has grown larger than it was 35 years ago.
Far from a niche concern, candidates have incorporated it into their signature proposals. They've addressed it in speeches not just to black churches in South Carolina, but also to mostly white town hall crowds in Iowa and New Hampshire.
In many ways, it's a defining issue of the 2020 cycle so far, one that brings together multiple trends that are transforming the party: the rising clout of nonwhite voters, a rush to embrace more ambitious policy, and heightened concerns about both racism and inequality under President Donald Trump.

Everyone else is poor and then there are Democrats.

That number was probably not that bad when there was actual, open, in-your-face racism.

They plan to close the gap not by bringing up those in the lower brackets, but by taking down those with wealth. No jobs.

Democrats threw wast sums of money to CAUSE the problem.
Now more money is needed to FIX it.

Maybe being on the government tit isn’t a way to develop wealth
I’m sure dropping out of high school, shunning trade schools or college, having kids out of wedlock, refusing to get married, shooting up drugs and failing to hold a steady job because it isn’t fun, fulfilling or whatever has nothing to do with this gap. Right?
If you gave blacks whitey’s money, whitey would get it all back in no time.
Yes it is, sadly... but its largely a product of education, and personal behavior.
The government already controls the former, and does everything it can to destroy the consequences of the latter.
If they meant it at all they’d be pushing for financial education.
The plan is how to buy an election.
If Blacks would finish high school and get married before having babies, they’d be much better off. The rest of us would be thrilled if they would take care of themselves instead of becoming dead weight on society.
The best thing you can do to close that gap is plenty of jobs. And Trump is doing that.
One way to do that is to destroy the white family just like they destroyed the black family.

Since 1970, out-of-wedlock birth rates have soared. In 1965, 24 percent of black infants and 3.1 percent of white infants were born to single mothers. By 1990 the rates had risen to 64 percent for black infants, 18 percent for whites.
The most recent stat I saw has black unwed births at 72%.
But it is the white people’s fault. It’s all of those micro aggressions.
Maybe some of those wealthy liberal corporations (the ones who are always telling the rest of us how to live) like facebook, twitter, youtube, apple, microsoft, nbc, abc, cbs, cnn, amazon, etc, etc, etc, should make a great effort to hire more people of color and pay them high wages.
Wealth Confiscation.
Yeah, that will solve everything.
Will the Democrats ever talk about these poverty busters?
Marriage.
Steady job.
Completing school.
Don’t break the law.
Sticking to a budget as much as possible.
Personal responsibility.
