Hundreds of migrant families will be flown to California in as many as three flights a week as U.S. Border Patrol agents continue to struggle with the growing number of illegals crossing into the U.S., officials said.

Flights carrying 120 to 135 people were set to begin flying Friday to San Diego from the Rio Grande Valley in Texas and would continue to do so indefinitely, Border Patrol's interim San Diego sector chief Douglas Harrison said.

Harrison called it a “contingency operation” that would see at least three flights a week making the trip. Each flight would cost the government around $6,000, officials said.

I believe these are the so called families that can only be held for 20 days and have to be given a court date within the 20 day period. Then they get released into USA to wherever they want to go or we take them to.

I don’t disbelieve either of you. I was answering rin-tin-tin or whatever his handle because he was giving 0bama credit.

War powers act gives him the legal authority.

What’s your point? If he has presidential authority to act against terrorist in foreign countries - and to build walls and forts in Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq - then he has authority to protect our own border with a wall against invaders It’s called commander in chief. Unfortunately he let Paul Ryan talk him out of it - the same Paul Ryan who has a big wall around his house

There are many ways to skin this cat. Giving up after one option is gone is not what this country was founded on.

Apprehensions are through the roof right now too though so I was baffled at what the point was with all that data that does not begin to show what is happening now.

I mean thanks to our courts people showing up in mass looking FOR the Border Patrol is new to me after living here for decades. Asylum is such a magic word now we should all probably be practicing saying it.

“Trumps failure to prioritize the border wall is a big problem

You have absolutely zero idea what you are talking about. No idea whatsoever.”

You telling me that Trump DIDNT defer to Paul Ryan and Mitch and out of the fight for border wall funding, until GOP has lost control of the House?

We've had this discussion before. You're like a broken record.

Read the law. It's law passed by Congress giving the POTUS the authority to unilaterally forbid immigrants/invaders entry into America.

8 U.S.C. s 1152(a)(1)

From the above: "Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate."

Congress gave the President the power to forbid entry into the USA of any immigrant according to the above law.

He also has the power to order troops to the border, as he has done. He has already ordered troops to the border, but only in a impotent capacity. If he can order ten soldiers, he can order 10,000 soldiers. If he can order 10,000 soldiers, he can order them to be armed and have some teeth. He just has to do it.

The fed judge hacks have countermanded some things, but they cannot stop him from performing the above.

If we’re going to send them somewhere in the US, I’m all for shipments to the coldest areas. Maine and Alaska are like kryptonite for these refugees from the sunny equator. Politicians will never feel the sting of anything they do.

My point is he’s doing what he LEGALLY can.

Would you prefer the president break the law? If you prefer that, vote for a democrat next time.

Would you prefer the president break the law?“

You think Trump is braking the law by building military bases in Syria? Or by threatening to send half million soldiers to invade Iran? Or by -through Bolton - threatening military action against Venezuela?

If that’s legal, why would he not have inherent constitutional power to protect our country against invaders by building a wall? Or can he only build walls other countries?

> The magic word is asylum. <

You do have a point. But an illegal cannot claim asylum if he cannot cross the border in the first place.

Did I expect a wall to magically appear the day after Trump took office? No. But I did expect federal troops at the border, many federal troops.

I have not seen Trump give up. He is working on border issues...gets up every day fighting.

We the people need to vote better. We can’t elect people who support open borders/illegal immigration for anything- even dog catcher.

It took decades to get to this point. I knew the border issues would be the toughest battle of all and it is. Problem is the supporters of illegals have had decades to change laws, appoint judges...get all this organized.

Probably the most win we have had on the border issues is the appointment of judges that he is doing. Won’t show up for a while but probably in the long term will make the most difference.

Meanwhile as long as we have a fighter we better all get in the fight. We have to stay up with what is going on and speak out, show our support for securing the border.

My eye opener was a poll a while back that showed nearly 40% of the people in this country have no problems with illegal immigration. No problem with it...fine with them. WOW So the rest of us better stand up and be counted. That is why we have Rs voting against securing the border...which is why we have this problem. If we the people had not elected the RINOs in Congress now things would be far different.

We can’t just sit back and wait for Trump or anyone to do something, we have to help. We sat back too long and let all of this happen.

The asylum rule is “on US soil” and on most of the border where there is a fence it is set back from the actual international boundary. Meaning the illegals technically are already on our soil before they get to the border fence. That fact does not escape the hoards of immigration lawyers that are “assisting” asylum seekers.

Putting armed federal troops on the border is a major step, sounds good and it may come to that- actually is under consideration right now with the insurrection proposal. But it truly is a huge step so it should not be taken lightly.

If we had federal troops on the border- it will be a huge issue of where exactly is the actual border. With the feet on our soil rule we would have to know every inch of the legal boundary. On paper we do but out there in the desert it would be a different story for our troops who would be dealing with it 24/7.

Federal troops on the border to stop people that a large number of Americans see as legitimate asylum seekers (not knowing any better and/or just following dim agenda) is not going to be a cake walk if it does happen.

The real fix for the asylum scam is to rewrite our asylum law. Congress has to do that.
