RUSH: It Goes After Roe Directly: Alabamas Abortion Bill Heads to State Senate Nations strictest legislation would ban all abortions at any stage of pregnancy, from the heartbeat on, and backers hope it will fuel a challenge to Roe v Wade. Now, you cant imagine the reaction to this. The American left, the Democrat Party, and many American so-called moderates are beside themselves, and especially Democrats and moderates in Alabama. Theyre already embarrassed to live there. Democrats and moderates.
Now they think that Alabama is gonna be aborted because of all this. Now, were gonna get into this in great detail. Weve got audio sound bite support. But I just want to put a thought in your head. What do you expect to happen when the Democrat Party gives standing ovations to legislation permitting the killing of babies who have been born? What do you expect to happen? What does anybody expect? This country has not gone over to the dark side of liberalism, in toto. We havent gotten anywhere close to that.
You people that stand up and applaud the murder of children after theyve been born, you think theres not gonna be any opposition to that from places all over the country? This is just one of 16 states that is moving in this direction as a reaction. You got Ralph Northam, the governor of Virginia, who advocated the same thing. Remember what Obama told the woman asking about her 99-year-old mother. (Obama impression) Well, what if she has the will to live, will Obamacare let her live?
No. Dont think so. Well just give her a pill. Uhhh, give her a pill and make her comfortable, and (Southern accent) Here come Ralph Northam, the governor of Virginia, if the baby was to have been aborted and abortionist screws it up, we just give the newborn a pill and make it comfortable while we wipe it out. What do you expect to happen? You expect people just to sit by and say, Oh, okay. Americas going down the tubes? Thats not at all whats gonna happen.
People are not gonna tolerate this kind of thing. Theyre not gonna stand idly by and watch American culture and society and particularly around the right to life just be destroyed like this. So it was only a matter of time and for everybody that thinks whats going on in Alabama, Well, this is a little over the top, though, Rush. Come on, now. This reaction, this is a little overboard. What do you mean, over the top? Where were you when they were giving a standing ovation in the New York state senate, when they passed legislation permitting the killing of babies that had been born?
Where were you when the New York City mayor lit up the buildings in that town all pink or whatever color to celebrate it? Where were you? Thats not a little overboard? Well, Rush, its been trending in that direction. We just gotta understand women are gonna do what theyre gonna do. Its not gonna be just understood. There are going to be people that are not gonna tolerate that, and that is what we are seeing.
BREAK TRANSCRIPT
RUSH: The Alabama abortion bill has passed overwhelming in the House and the Senate. Its on the way to the governors office for signature. Alabama lawmakers aiming to challenge abortion rights nationally are one step from their goal The Senate tonight voted 25-6 to pass a bill to make it a felony I had an old story off the Drudge Report that was apparently 12-hours old or something.
Anyway, the vote sends the bill to Republican Gov. Kay Ivey, who could sign it into law. The goal is to trigger a legal challenge to Roe v. Wade. Under the bill, a woman receiving an abortion would not be criminally liable. The doctor would be charged with a Class A felony, punishable by 10 to 99 years in prison. The bill passed the Senate on party lines after 4-1/2 hours of debate, with all the Republicans who were present voting for it. No Democrats voted for the bill. With Republicans holding 27 of 35 Senate seats, passage of the bill was not in doubt.
A key question was whether the Senate would add an amendment to allow abortions for pregnancies caused by rape or incest. Four Republicans sided with the Democrats in voting for the rape and incest exception, but it failed 21-11. Now, I always get in trouble when I point this out, but its almost automatically conceded that if a woman is raped or if theres incest involved, the abortion ought to be automatic; dont even think about it. But, but I mean, get mad at me if you want, but the one thing about it thats true: Its not the babys fault.
I mean, the baby remains the essence of innocence in whatever scenario that you create, make up, contrive, what have you. (sigh) Anyway, this has caused mass outrage. Alyssa Whats her name? Milano? The actress? Why does anybody care? I guess shes made news. She is now advocating an even greater sex strike. (interruption) No. (interruption) Well, she wants to continue it. She wants to continue! No sex until this is all done away with, which, you know, liberals not having sex may be the safest way to protect babies in the country, when you get right down to it.
I mean, one of the most dangerous places to be in this country is in the womb of a Democrat mother. I mean, lets just be honest about it out there. I mean, you may not like hearing it, you may think its outrageous to say, but it happens to be the truth. Now, the goal was to pass the bill in a form she thought would serve as the strongest challenge to Roe v. Wade. Rep. Terri Collins said states could later decide what exceptions to allow if the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. She said she would support a rape and incest exception if that happens.
Ive answered many emails from people who have poured out their hearts with real stories that were true, Collins said. My goal with this bill is not to hurt them in any way. My goal with this bill, and I think all of our goal, is to have Roe vs. Wade turned over, and that decision be sent back to the states so that we can come up with our laws that address and include amendments and things that address those issues.'
Im just gonna remind everybody again. In Great Britain, abortion is in no way as controversial as it is in the United States. It does not rip apart their culture or their society. You know why? Because they decided on it in the democratic fashion. It was voted on. Roe v. Wade is made-up law by a left-wing judge and others then agreed, and so you had some people in black robes essentially saying that the Constitution says, Its okay to abort babies if you dont want them.
The Constitution says no such thing, but the problem with this is that it hasnt been voted on by anybody. Its been forced on people that dont agree with it and dont support it and they never had a chance to defeat it and roll it back, and all the sponsor of this bill is basically saying is: Lets overturn Roe v. Wade. Her purpose here is not to get rid of abortion. Theres nobody on earth that thinks thats ever gonna happen anyway.
You cannot outlaw abortion, but you can have a moral standard that you stand for. You can be for life. Folks, you cant convince me that this nations deterioration on the sanctity of life since 1973 when Roe v. Wade was enacted has nothing to do with all of the murder rate increases and young kids killing each other. We have said over and over again that politics seeps into pop culture in any number of ways, and you cant tell me that life hasnt been cheapened overall in just the general perception by some people because of Roe v. Wade.
Look at the way the abortion proponents sell it. Its not a baby. Its a disease. Its an unviable tissue mass! Its nothing until we say it is, and arguments about when does life begin and all this. Regardless your position on those arguments, the very fact that a case has been popularized by a political party thats become a defining litmus test for that party, you cant tell me that position that cheapens the overall reverence for life doesnt have a ripple effect all the way throughout our culture. So, its important that a society
Look at our Declaration of Independence: We hold these truths to be self-evident. Among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Life is number one. The assumption is that as a nation we were founded on the premise that we were all created by God, our Creator, with certain rights that states and government cannot take away. Among them are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Thereby codifying that the state, our government, stands for life and protects life. You cant go wrong doing that. Just simply, on a moral basis, you cannot go wrong.
If you live in a society and live in a culture where the bias is always for life instead of death, the bias is always for life instead of killing, your society cant go wrong. But you can go way wrong if you decide to throw that out and think life is no different than anything else thats disposable, because it certainly isnt. Its precious. We cant create it ourselves from nothing. We all only get one, and cheapening it Im sure I know whats in the minds of these people in Alabama.
Theyre not trying to overturn abortion. They know thats not gonna happen. They want this to result in Roe v. Wade being overturned so that the issue goes back to states where it will be decided there. Now, people say, But, Rush, you cant have a staccato policy. You cant have abortion legal in some ways and illegal in others, and in one state and have it be totally different in another state. Yeah, you can. Thats the whole point. Now, opponents of this think this is gonna cause a mass exodus of people from Alabama.
Theyre gonna be profoundly embarrassed to live there and so forth. But Ill tell you something, folks. If you put two things on a scale You put this Alabama bill on one scale and on the other scale you put the New York assembly which passed legislation permitting the killing of a baby that survived an abortion? A baby born alive can be killed and that gets a standing ovation, and its met with such applause that the people that run the city decide to light up all the buildings in a certain color in celebration of this!
Then you go down to Virginia, Ralph Northam, the governor of Virginia, basically says the same thing! Which side of the scale do you want to be on? Which side of the scale do you want to have to defend? I guarantee you, people all over this country were in outraged shock when they saw standing ovations for killing babies in the New York State Senate, and then Governor Northam in Virginia comes out basically amplifying that, as a doctor.
And, furthermore, using the analogy (Southern accent), Well, if the mother wants to terminate the child, we make that child comfortable first. We lay the child down and we make the child comfortable, and then at a time we all agree we zap it. Which side of the scale do you want to be on there? But the idea that those things are gonna be in a vacuum and that nobody is gonna react to it? If you are repulsed and outraged by whats happened in Alabama, where were you when New York and Virginia decided what they did? And theyre not alone.
WTOP's Ask the Governor with Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam - Jan. 30, 2019
Fourteen or 15 other states headed down the same path. Im just telling you. As a society, as a culture, as a population, if the general consensus is not almost universal in agreeing with the premise of the sanctity of life, then your culture is gonna be a mess. Your culture, your population, your society is going to degrade faster than you can ever imagine and youll never be able to figure out why. I wonder why all this killings taking place, Mabel.
I wonder why people are pooping on the streets all day, Mabel. That never happened when we were growing up. I wonder this is happening. Why are there so many robberies? Why are there school shootings? Why? Just go back to 1973 and walk forward, and go back to 1973 and walk backwards, and compare the kind of cultural degradation happening prior to 1973 with that that occurred afterwards and be sure and include today.
And then, after you do that, then recognize that there is a political party which has attempted to make as much political hay out of this degradation as they can. So I dont
None of this surprises me. The fact that there is this reaction and its not new. There have been people that have wanted to overturn Roe v. Wade since it was made law by the Supreme Court.
It looks like the people of Alabama are going to show up for it.
“Theyre not trying to overturn abortion. They know thats not gonna happen.”
Call me crazy but if there is one and only ONE thing the Federal government should and must do it’s protect life, ALL LIFE. Whether it’s a 99 year old women or a 6 week old developing baby our Constitution guarantees the protection of life.
Abortion is murder and anyone who is honest with themselves knows that to be an irrevocable undeniable fact.
Just like we all know sin when we see it. At least when I commit a sin I admit to it and I may commit it multiple times again and again but I never fail to admit what I did at least to myself. Because I strive to be honest with myself. Abortion proponents cannot do that or they couldn’t live with their conscience.
You can call it whatever you want, you can try and justify it, you can apply euphemisms out the wazoo and come up with a plethora of excuses but the fact that your taking a life....Perhaps the most innocent and undeserving of death of God’s creations and you’re destroying that life in the most abhorrent of ways.
Self delusion is very likely the most destructive trait a person can possess because it negates our inherent conscience and thereby allows us to commit the most abominable inhumanities without a second thought. There are only two rationales for a person who would willfully allow abortion to exist and God forbid, flourish....1.They are totally and completely self deluded. 2.They are evil. 3.They are insane. There is no 4th option.
I initially thought Alabama went too far, but Rush is Right, the libs went to far when they allow aborted living babies to be murdered.
Kudos to Rush for enlightening me.
sorry, lost count....3 rationales.
I just like seeing these Marxists get their panties in a wad.
The foremost purpose of the government is to secure the right to life, liberty, and property.
Killing the innocent is no solution and you will never be able to justify your position to The Lord when you see him.
Abortion is murder.
A nation that kills its own children is a nation without hope.
St. John Paul II, Pope
Every Democrat craves a mutilated baby.
“we have very particular rules in Judaism as to when it is or is not appropriate to do an abortion”
I’m not familiar with this. What does Judaism say ?
The Tenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, which is part of the Bill of Rights, was ratified on December 15, 1791. It expresses the principle of federalism and states’ rights, which strictly supports the entire plan of the original Constitution for the United States of America, by stating that the federal government possesses only those powers delegated to it by the United States Constitution. All remaining powers are reserved for the states or the people.
I’m not sure about Judism, but if it’s anything like Schumer it’s 100% for abortion in America and 100% against it in Israel.
Except there are two victims here, the mother and the unborn child, so your solution (those that support this ‘exception’) is to fully punish only one of the victims. You cannot be pro life and then claim there should be an ‘exception’, it undermines everything you stand for then.
And the reason they did that was the parts of a “finished” baby are worth much more than a half-finished baby.
And the more money they make, the more they can donate back to the DNC.
