Sen. Mitt Romney is pushing legislation to raise the federal legal age to buy tobacco to 21, an effort backed by the tobacco industry and that health advocates hope will curtail younger Americans from smoking.
Romney, a Utah Republican, said the bill was the first step in addressing an avoidable health crisis of young Americans taking up e-cigarettes as well as traditional tobacco products. The legislation would raise the age to buy any tobacco product to 21 as well as allow the Health and Human Services Department to conduct undercover compliance checks, retail inspections and enforce the law with fines.

Eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow you may be in Salt Lake City...
Now that that is exactly the space aged cutting edged legislatoon we were hoping for. Grooooovy!
So, it goes back to the old saw about if an 18 year old kid can fight and die for the dodos who are for this, he ought to be able to buy and smoke and vote.
I hate cigs, but I hate the government making such choices illegal far, far worse. Mitt & company, MYODB!!!
Ditto DAT!!!!
He has to be able to say he got some feel-good legislation passed before he runs for President
What a ninny.
He should also pass a law to prevent cussing.
And women not dressed frum.
Not a smoker. But legal adults should be treated as such.
20-year-olds are too immature, unprepared and naïve to buy alcohol, tobacco or guns
16-years-olds are wise, mature and ready to vote to decide the future of our country
12-year-olds are mentally fit to transition to the opposite sex
Are you kidding. If they do that, they will reduce the legal marijuana age to 16 so they can vote stoned
You have to love the hubris of the socialist elite decrying religion, Puritanism and forced morality and then shoving their morals down our throats because the dumb people have to be saved.
As if thats not religion in all but word.
And, of course, Mittens here cant resist the siren call of going with the crowd so he can go to all the fancy galas.
"We Approve!"
[Im for it if they raise the voting age to 21.]
Such things are not a federal issue.
The Constitution leaves these things to the States.
What a tough guy....I’m sure he lost lots of sleep on this one.
They also need to raise the age of military service to age 21 these people are despicable!!!! These kids put their ass on the line YET they cant have an e-cigarette GIVE ME A DAMN BREAK!!!
