All I can say is you better strap yourself in because, the next six months I expect to see tariffs on the other $300 billion we import from China because it's become clear that President Trump has decided that the U.S. simply shouldn't do business with China and if you do you are going to have to pay the price.
There's also threats that they will cut off our liquefied natural gas exports to them.
Now, here's what's pretty ironic about this list. The vast preponderance of these goods are made by farmers. The farmers, the president said, are going to get checks for the best year they ever had with China. Those goods will go elsewhere anyway so the farmers get a real payday. Could be a big win for them. Of course. They always seem to win. Jeffersonian instincts? No, more about primaries and two senators per all states, especially farm states.
A couple of these are funny: DVRs, cameras and gloves? Our manufacturing base for all of those were wiped out years ago, with the Chinese being instrumental in the destruction of the glove industry.
Liquefied natural gas? That's like Boeing planes: get in line. There is multiple year demand for our natural gas. We spoke with both Charif Souki, the founder of our export industry, and Tom Farrell, from Dominion Energy (D) -- strong stock there -- which exports natural gas and both have told us there is simply nothing to be had for years and years and years. So that's a real non-starter.
So where does it put us? I think that the president's view, the one says "there will be nobody left in China to do business with. Very bad for China, very good for the USA," scares investors who are panicking ou

China:
The new Japan of the (late?) 1930’s..?
Almost an exact historical mirror.
There were some coherent folks working for Reagan that noted how overextended the Soviets were and speculated that they could be made to spend themselves out of existence.
It worked.
I think all warfare is ultimately economic. Our US Civil War was, despite the caca were fed in school. The Mercantilist North was taxing the stuff they were buying from the South and taxing it again when the sold it back to them as finished products.
The South did like the deal and tried to leave, and the North forced them back on the plan at the point of a gun.
That’s not how it is taught, but that’s what happened.
And China’s bomb has already gone off. There is more truth in the Onion than there is in a Chinese corporations financial statements.
Our President has them on the run. My only fear is that if he pushes to hard the Chinese may resort to land war. So far it seems like he knows what he’s doing.
Pray for the health and safety of our great President, Donald Trump. These are high stakes.
“Does Cramer get anything right?”
He is right 50% of the time.
F/Jim Cramer...
Cramer’s right. Whatever you think about tariffs, there will be turbulence — some “air pockets,” so to speak, early on.
It would seem not; especially those who let the anti-Trump-driven MSM do their thinking.
Ooops. It would seem so...!
Im willing to concede that there were investigations going on that I wasnt aware of. But if part of the plan was for Sessions to recuse himself and to put the nation through the unnecessary hell weve endured and that still continues, thats one heck of a plan. Sessions is solely responsible for Mueller and for the coup plotters escaping justice for two years. Barr might be able to clean up Sessions mess, well see.
Very thought provoking.
Invest in other Asian Tigers. BIG profits to be had.

Actually Cramer is coming out on the side of tariffs.
The selloff over $50B in tariffs was WAY OVER DONE.
The local ABC affiliate new breaks yesterday were over the top. The dude was overly and weirdly excited reporting the PLUNGING stock market DUE TO TRUMP’S TARIFFS. I thought he was orgasming.
As with soybeans, they will buy from someone else, who then will buy from us to replenish their own coffers - or sell to the Chinese at a hefty markup.
Indeed. Sessions' actions were against all odds; Trump almost certainly was deeply shocked, particularly since it was practically impossible to replace him.
It is easy to conclude no one acts in such outrageous manner and against all expectations unless they are a stealth operative subject to an undisclosed agenda. Perhaps, as you say, after Barr's work is finished a credible author will give us a better view.
Isnt there a very simple explanation for Sessions outrageous behavior? Behavior that put Trump and the country in dire jeopardy? A very simple explanation that doesnt include Sessions use of double secret 4D chess that Trump was necessarily kept completely in the dark about?
