Isn’t there a very simple explanation for Sessions “outrageous” behavior? Behavior that put Trump and the country in dire jeopardy? A very simple explanation that doesn’t include Sessions’ use of double secret 4D chess that Trump was necessarily kept completely in the dark about?

It may be that you are suggesting a simple description of the motivation for the attempted coup; and, if so, most of us can provide that in a few short words. And, it could be done without reference to either why Trump was "necessarily kept...in the dark", or Sessions' deceit and betrayal.
But I hope you are not suggesting Sessions' behavior lends itself to a simple explanation (you probably are not). In this case, that deceit and betrayal of a trusted insider that had the president's ear served as perhaps an indispensable tool and was a primary element of the operation.
Nor should we disregard the corruption of at least 3 of our nation's highest agencies; also most likely indispensable tools that advanced the attempt.
