That would’ve been a miscast. Anne Bancroft was perfect.

I don’t know who I hated most...
David Niven or Ronald Coleman.

Nice song. The lyrics conjure up the same
emotions as Andy William’s “Dear Heart.”

RIP Doris

What a contrast to today’s crop of “actresses”, I can’t imagine anyone will care when Alyssa Milano and friends pass on.

I’d miss Emma Stone, Zooey Deschanel and Amy Adams, though I’ll be the one croaking first.

Doris son Terry Melcher lived in the the Tate’s house prior to Sharon moving in. He left and supposedly Charlie still believed he still lived there. Terry was a record producer that produced the Byrds album. He also was in contact with Dennis Wilson of the Beach Boys. Dennis introduce Charlie to Terry. Terry heard Charlie play but Terry really didn’t think he was good so he was rejected. Some say something happen to Charlie’s Brain when he got rejected. So knowing where Terry lived he sent the family not knowing he had already moved, and as they say the rest is history.

My father the vaudville magician ran across nearly everyone in his long career. He saw Doris when she fronted a big band and said she had twenty wild dogs whipped like puppies. It wasn't until later that I got that (he was another shot down in flames - LOL). Here's a clip of her given free reign then upstaging James Cagney.

So glad the residual system came in for her as she truly deserved reward for all that astonishing work. It also took true character to love a man as a friend who's lifestyle was the death of him. Then she stepped away from every psycho-altering aspect of "Hollywoodism" to care for needy animals who's honesty could not hurt her like people had. Doris took command of her time and made the world better for it.

What do you mean ‘free reign,’ and how is Cagney upstaged?
