Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., has made yet another shocking and historically ignorant claim: That thinking about the Holocaust gives her a "calming feeling" because her Palestinian ancestors provided a "safe haven" for Jewish victims of the tragedy.
Tlaib, a close ally of Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., who is no stranger to anti-Semitic controversies herself, made the latest statement on a podcast called "Skullduggery" in an episode titled "From Rashida with Love."
"Theres always kind of a calming feeling I tell folks when I think of the Holocaust, and the tragedy of the Holocaust, and the fact that it was my ancestors Palestinians who lost their land and some lost their lives, their livelihood, their human dignity, their existence in many ways, have been wiped out, and some people's passports," Tlaib said just after the 28 minute mark. "And just all of it was in the name of trying to create a safe haven for Jews, post-the Holocaust, post-the tragedy and the horrific persecution of Jews across the world at that time. And I love the fact that it was my ancestors that provided that, right, in many ways. But they did it in a way that took their human dignity away and it was forced on them.

No...There has never been a country or nation known as Palestine...
In fact, historically, there was never an independent country named Palestine. There was for a time a Roman province named Palestine, when the Romans bestowed that name in the second century A.D. ... So, the historical record says that Palestine was never a country, and was rarely ever an intact entity.May 11, 2011

Please forget one of the great fallacies of our time: Israel did not steal Palestinian land. It’s not Palestinians’ land; it’s never been their land; it will never be their land. This land was given to the Jewish people, as stated in the Bible, by the Creator, and will remain the homeland of the Jewish people in perpetuity. Despite 27 invasions of Judea and Samaria (erroneously called the West Bank), conquests by many, forced conversions, exiles, massive oppression, generations of Diaspora, and cowardly acquiescence by a cadre of 5th-column Jews themselves, Jews have not only survived in what’s known in Hebrew as Eretz Yisrael (Israel), but they’ve taken a desert wasteland and turned it into a powerful little democracy, the envy of the world

morphing libertarian to JBW1949
you just contradicted yourself
Show me the contradiction, please...
uh no, the romans declared it But thats too easy. You see there romans ruled the are and they called it Palestine. So you can listen to anyone you want, I’ll accept the authority of the time. Your problem is this blows your entire argument out of the water.
Good day
I may have crossed comment. I never wanted to condone anything she says. i was addressing palestine in the roman era not her comment.
now you use the qualifier INDEPENDENT well what is it there was no palestine or there was and the romans took them over. Can’t have it both ways.
good night good-bye good luck
Anyone else would be pressured into resigning. the first question out of every journalists mouths to a democrat is if they denounced Tlaib.
That’s right.
The spirit of the Democrat party and the Left is actually the spirit of antichrist.
The end fast approaches.
Most of the above posts were copied from research on the internet, not my personal comments i.e. your reference to “independent”...
Whether you accept it or not, Palestine has never been a country or a nation...
You do know the difference between a “state” and a “nation”, don’t you???
Tennessee is a “state”, not a “nation”...
United States of America is a “nation”, not a “state”...
And, as I said once before, an “area” is known as “Palestine”, just as an “area” in known as “Appalachia”.
Neither is known as a state or country or nation...
I don’t understand what your problem is with seeing this...
Will Snopes fact-check her? I doubt it.
state and nation have often been used synonymously.
You are using one example, the US to show Palestine was a state like the US. The romans didn’t use that concept. There was no United States of Rome.
here’s a simple way to unravel the ball of twine in which you have entailed yourself. If the romans called it palestine, and they were in charge, then it was palestine. So your comment that there was no palestine is just historically and logically inaccurate.
There are other historical references to Palestine before and after Christ, if you want to refresh your research.
Yes, correct
You don’t have the courage to admit you are wrong...
This is over.....
lol it certainly is
