Ever heard of a missile that doesnt explode?
That, the Wall Street Journal reports, is a key feature of a secret weapon adapted by the US military.
Its a modified version of a Hellfire missile that hits pinpoint targets but doesnt explode on impact, meaning reduced damage and less risk of civilian casualties.
The weapon, which the Journal likens to a speeding anvil falling out of the sky, is known as R9X. But it also has a nickname, the flying Ginsu, inspired by its hidden ring of six blades, which emerges just before impact and shreds anything it meets.

The knife-thing is kind of silly. A two hundred pound projectile dropping on your head at 3000 FPS is quite sufficient.
It's called a "bullet."
Interesting.
But it has to be ultra-precise to drop it on the terrorist.
Just use a bomb casing filled with concrete. That will vaporize a car and what ever is in it.its been used before.
Space based rail guns.
Shoot a pellet at unbelievable speeds and take out a single person.
I still prefer bombs that go boom. As youve alluded to the other option is extreme preciseness. At least with boom you can me off center mass and still decimate the target and the families supporting the terrorists within a couple city blocks. Boom rockets are additionally great deterrents for anyone witnessing the boom.
Well, there was an article posted about concrete being one of the deadliest things on muvver erf so there’s that...........
The problem solution is not new weapons
The problem solution is trying to not meet the new definition of war crimes and barbarian. Killing wives and children set purposely as defensive tactic is far different from murdering captive POW’s.
If wives and children are killed by the bombs, the tactical practice of using them for shields will end.
The pacifists molly coddling of the Europe loving leftist American lawyers must end if there is to be peace. War and killing is the route to peace
I remember a long time ago, maybe in WWII, the U.S. was experimenting with dropping flechettes.
“Essentially, the weapon is employed when a regular airstrike on a high-value target would pose a risk to innocent bystanders.”
There are NO innocent bystanders!
It’s well past time to take the gloves off and fight a war by killing people and breaking things.
You don’t want to have your country reduced to flaming rubble? Don’t allow terrorists scumbags to live in your country. It’s a simple concept, and the one that won WW2.
Yeah, we have “rules of engagement”, they don’t.
This is exactly the same concept, just more expensive.
Here is a broadhead arrowtip used to hunt Turkeys:
What a waste of a perfectly
Great Hellfire Missile!
I also don’t think that’s
a “Reaper” drone.
Paging Mr Coyote...
Flechette and sabot rounds are not new. Tank rounds and other ordinance can be selectively used to apply to a target. HE is not always the best choice.
Well I guess its not secret anymore.
