Recently release FOIA documents into the special counsel team of Robert Mueller reveal the remarkable trail of a 2017 entrapment scheme conducted by Prosecutor Andrew Weissmann to target George Papadopoulos.

Before digging into the details it is important to note this is a DOJ/FBI entrapment operation being conducted in 2017 by the special counsel; this is not prior to the 2016 election. The detail surrounds a series of events previously discussed {Go Deep} where George Papadopoulos was approached by a known CIA operative named Charles Tawil.
In 2017 George Papadopoulos and his wife Simona were approached in Greece by a known CIA/FBI operative, Charles Tawil. Mr. Tawil enlisted George as a business consultant, under the auspices of energy development interests, and invited him to Israel.
On June 8th, 2017, in Israel under very suspicious circumstances, where Papadopoulos felt very unnerved, Mr. Tawil hands him $10,000 in cash for future consultancy based on a $10k/month retainer.
On June 9th, 2017, according to his book, Papadopoulos and Tawil fly back to Cyprus.

Correct, but the charges fell apart because he didn’t have it. They were expecting him to bring it in ‘undeclared’. I think he was asking was ‘what if he had brought it with him AND declared the $’?

In the Obama years, my guess is that EVERY new hire and EVERY promotion was scrutinized for "correct" ideology. ALL the government agencies should be assumed to be dominated by Leftists.

There needs to be indictments in order to restore some level of confidence in our government. Sitting back watching Hillary and gang skate all the while running the Trump family through the legal mill is disgusting.

There’s THIS to back it up for upper level jobs & I’m sure it filtered down into the ranks to some/a great degree. The ‘appointees’ from the list(s) certainly would want those reporting to them to be of the same persuasion politically at least & perhaps religiously (Muslim) as well.

This follows a pattern of the Obama Administration using race and religion to determine hiring, with other leaked emails showing potential political appointees being labeled with an F for female, B for black, H for Hispanic, and M for Muslim.
Another Wikileaks release showed the Obama transition team keeping extensive lists of non-white candidates for administration posts.
They really jumped the shark on this one.
I guess the plan was to accuse PapaD of crimes after they found the 10K. They didn't even think it through, because there was no crime carrying the money unless he did not disclose it upon entry. Until he got to Customs he was still an international traveler. Individuals can be denied entry on a laundry list of reasons.
They detained PapaD and then were obligated to bring him before a US Magistrate Judge to show probable cause for the arrest. The were trying so hard to keep some type of twist on their suspect, probably to turn him into action against the campaign later.
These are tactics one might use with mobsters, but with an ordinary citizen without one iota of criminal suspicion other than he was active in a couple of political campaigns.
It all just reeks.
I smell the same type of stink with Carter Page, who seems to be been a willing participate with the bureau in some earlier investigations. He got used because the FICA authority allows the hops one and two contacts away. That can be a whole lot of folks for someone that is actively networking and communicating.
They found PapaD via a linkedin profile. Would all of his linkedin network be included in the surveillance. Probably? It is the way they think, and who is looking over their shoulder. Electronic surveillance at that point is extremely intrusive.

I agree. They probably just told WFO (Washington field Office) that information existed from a source that a traveler was arriving at Dulles with cash that he did not intend to declare. Go get him.
They would have withheld information from a SA or a SSA so that it wasn't accidently revealed in the follow-up interview (interrogation)

When they treat Agents like this, they learn quickly that the higher ups are always playing a game, and now their part is just to do their bidding, get answers to the questions, but do not try and figure out the gambit. It is the way they do investigations. The higher-ups get to see all the cards, not the ground level investigators pulling in the information.

Yup, compartmentalized. That is how you try and keep secrets. A field office agent can not investigate anything without permission even if he knows a crime is being committed . This whole scenario was created and orchestrated on the 7th floor.

Probably if no one files claim for the money, after a safe period of time, the attorney might be able to keep it as a fee. PapaD ain't saying what arrangement he made, and why should he.

iirc, it has been reported publicly that papadop felt something was up & gave the 10k to his attorney to hold.
papadop himself admitted to giving the $$ to his attorney for safekeeping.
I thought this all started in 2016 ???
Except for the reason that, according to Victoria Toensing, one of the agents said “this is what happens when you work for Donald Trump” to Papadopolous as he was being arrested/detained at the airport.
Herr Mueller has prosect-—Make that persecuted people before— names Hatfil and Jewell come to mind...
