IG Has 'Concluded that the Final Three FISA Extensions Were Illegally Obtained,' diGenova Says

Washington attorney Joe diGenova claimed in an interview last night that the Department of Justice inspector general has determined that "the final three FISA extensions were illegally obtained," and the first one is still being investigated.

For the past year, DOJ IG Michael Horowitz has been investigating the FBI's 2016 surveillance activities and his report is expected later this month or in early June.

Washington power couple Joe diGenova and Victoria Toensing appeared on Lou Dobbs' Fox Business Network show Thursday night to talk about the latest turns in the "SpyGate" saga.

"The only question now is whether or not the first FISA was illegally obtained," diGenova said.

He told Dobbs that the latest revelations in investigative reporter John Solomon's piece at The Hill, have prompted further investigation from Horowitz's team.

On Thursday, Solomon reported that newly unearthed memos show that a high-ranking government official from the Obama State Department met with former British spy Christopher Steele in October of 2016, and figured out pretty quickly that his dossier was a political hit job intended to slime Donald Trump on behalf of Hillary Clinton’s campaign.

The written account of Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Kathleen Kavalec’s Oct. 11, 2016, meeting with Steele also shows that Steele admitted that his research was "political and facing an Election Day deadline," according to Solomon.

DiGenova said the inspector general was unaware of the memos, which were obtained last week through open-records litigation by the conservative group Citizens United.

"The Bureau hid those memos from Horowitz. As a result of that, they are doing some additional work on the first FISA," diGenova explained, adding: "It may be that all four FISAs will have been obtained illegally."

DiGenova and Toensing shared another explosive revelation on Sebastian Gorka’s Salem Radio talk show “America First” on Thursday.

According to Toensing, the FBI tried to frame former Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos by having an informant give him $10,000 in cash during a trip to Israel in the summer of 2017.

An individual allegedly talked the then-29-year-old into traveling to Israel to make a deal, and invited him to his hotel room.

“And there on the bed is $10,000 in cash in a suitcase,” she continued. Papadopoulos took the money and gave it to his lawyer, who has it still.

Toensing said when Papadopoulos returned to the United States, he was greeted by FBI agents at Dulles Airport and they started searching through everything that he had “the second he landed.”

She added, “in fact, they already had his baggage from the plane. He couldn’t believe they had his baggage.”

“It was a set up!” exclaimed Gorka.

“It was a complete set up,” agreed Toensing.

DiGenova explained that the Feds already knew that he hadn’t declared that he had $10,000 and were expecting to find the undeclared cash so they could arrest him and “put the thumbscrews on and make him squeal,” as Gorka put it.

Worst of all, according to Toensing, “one of the FBI agents said to him, ‘this is what happens when you work for Donald Trump.'”

The Bureau hid those memos from Horowitz.

Rurroh. There are few counts of felony and conspiracy per conspirator in that one, everyone from the secretary who had access to the file to the top of the FBI.

I’ll take this seriously when the IG speaks for his own self.

In other words, “they” conspired to entrap a U.S. citizen or as Dan Bongino says - this was a classic push-pull operation. They pushed the info to an individual and then used a separate person to pull it from him thereby creating the impression of a crime. They used the push-pull to justify surveillance. It may have been unwittingly (incompetent) at first, but they doubled down on it later after they had to know or suspect they had been played and they were very willing to do it (bias and criminal intent).

It really is that simple although I have started thinking that the FBI was thoroughly played and used by the intelligence world by design to start it. The same information from the same source (Steele) to state, CIA through our 5-eyes partners and directly, the MSM, the top echelon of the DOJ, and the FBI. The FBI never dug into it enough to understand the same confidential source or informant with a different number for each agency was planting the same information everywhere he could. They even used media stories to corroborate the intelligence without considering their source was also talking to the media.

Will anything happen about this beyond a few media types writing books? I don’t know. The past 2 years does not give me much hope, but at least we can see what Barr does now. If past performance is a predictor of the future we are right to be skeptical. I hope that Trump is waiting for the IG report to drop and it is everything it should be.... Going after his kids was a big mistake for a GOP chairman and the left and media.

I like Joe diGenova but I’m tired of him getting our hopes up.

The point initially was to frame Trump, get an FBI investigation started, leak to the media that Trump was under investigation and then use Congress (Harry Reid, etc) to confirm the FBI investigation, all before Election Day.

You see, that would even the score: Hillary was under FBI investigation, and Trump was under FBI investigation. That’s how Hillary’s corrupt and amoral mind works.

They already knew Comey was corrupt because Comey was willing to play along with the ‘fixing’ of the Hillary email investigation even though she was obviously guilty of numerous crimes.

After Trump’s victory shocked everyone on Team Hillary, then they saw that perhaps they could use the fabricated FBI investigation to somehow force Trump from office.

More emphasis needs to be placed on the “2 hops” rule for FISA warrants the Obama thugs were salivating after.

This wasn’t just to spy on Carter Page, but with “2 hops” they could spy on virtually the entire Trump campaign staff.

REDDIT.COM Under FISA law, when the government obtains a warrant on an individual, they are also allowed to spy on anyone that person contacts, as well as anyone the contacted person contacts, as well as anyone that person contacted, going back FIVE YEARS!

In other words, the Obama administration got a warrant on Carter Page, but since Page would have been in contact with at least 1 member of the Trump campaign, and that member or one of their contacts probably was in contact with virtually anyone even remotely connected to the campaign, the FISA warrant made it “legal” for Obama and his cronies to spy on anyone even remotely connected to Trump or the campaign and look at ANY of their communications over the last FIVE YEARS!

This should be a major focus of these stories, as right now one of the main talking points from the deep state is that this was “only” looking at Page!

i dont understand how an FOIA request can get the info but an IG couldn’t get it.

seems weird.

The first wave ought to involve the judges who approved them and having them appear in front of a grand jury panel. Those guys should have their license to practice law suspended until this FISA thing is done.

He’s obviously one of the vast majority of good field agents Hannity always talks about.

That bugs the s**t out of me too. I'm so tired of hearing about the "vast majority of patriotic, dedicated FBI agents blah blah...."

Where are all of these FBI unicorns? Not on TV or the internet or anywhere in the public discourse. I don't see any of them standing up to any of the corruption and treachery.

Which makes sense given that with the vast majority of fed.gov employees of the lazy, overpaid, unionoids who lean left.

What is the name of the agent?

*************

And what does he know? Who does he report to? Where is he now? He’s a potentially interesting link in the chain.

Hi, billorites-!

As much as I would really, really, like to see all those vile folks punished, I have a problem with leaking of any information from an investigation.

We need to hold ourselves to standards, especially if we hold others to those standards from which we exempt ourselves.

Sigh.

For two years, “sources” have informed the MSM that there was Russian collusion with the Trump campaign. That turned out to be bull.

Now diGenova apparently has a source telling him that the last three FISA requests were determined to be illegal. I hope we don’t get hung out to dry like the viewers of MSNBC and CNN or the readers of the NYTimes and Wash Post did.

Toensing’s story sounds a little too far-fetched, which makes me nervous about the whole story.

I believe it is not a crime to leak information from an investigation -- just a violation of DOJ protocols.

Leaking classified information or information shielded from public disclosure (like grand jury testimony) from an investigation is a different story.

I agree with you, but your last point seems clearly different because it could only have come from Papadopoulos himself.

The Clintons and Obama had, as top priority, getting their loyalists into every enforcement job they could. They have largely succeeded. Assume most of the people in FBI, DOJ, IRS, etc, are hostiles.
