Survivors of a Colorado school shooting walked out of vigil for their slain classmate on Wednesday night in protest of politicians and other groups using it as a platform for gun control, a local report said.
The students from STEM High School, where two gunman killed a student and wounded eight others on Tuesday, began yelling from the stands that they wanted to be heard after two politicians and pro-gun control advocates addressed the crowd, according to the local NBC affiliate, KUSA.
They then stormed out of the vigil after Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet and Democratic Congressman Jason Crow addressed the crowd, The Denver Post reported.

As for these candle light vigils, I think it's more for the opportunity to get their faces on TV knowing the media trucks will be swarming there.
I see it on the local news too where some thug kid gets killed and his family and neighbors stand outside with candles. Who was the one that called the local news and invited them over with their cameras.
And don't get me started on the memorials set up outside where people drop off teddy bears and flowers and cards. Two days later they're just rain soaked crap that somebody needs to clean up........

Let’s not be too hard on jarhead9297, after all, who of us hasn’t read the title and immediately posted?
I know I have!
Furthermore, what IS disturbing, is that in this case, how accurate would jarhead9297 normally be in making the post he did? I would say greater than 99% of the time...the actions of these students seemed so unprecedented!
The fact is, I very nearly did the same thing jarhead9297 did, but had to force myself to actually read the article.
And it DID bother me just how astonished I was that the actions of these students diverged widely from the now usual actions of students at every level all over this country, never mind the world.
Kudos to jarhead9297 for manning up and admitting that error, which nearly all of us have done at some point.

That young kid...”We are a people, not a statement” was remarkable.
What was un-remarkable watching that video was that the “vigil” WAS done as a gun control circus...and what was also completely unremarkable was the framing of the narrative by the news team that DID discuss it. Boy, listening to that on-the-scene turd of a reporter, who was evidently ALL in for a political anti-gun rally, and it was “unfortunate” that this group of students interuppted it. To paraphrase, of all people, the Forrest Gump character: “I’m sorry I had to have a fight in the middle of your gun control party.”
Her attitude just pissed me off. It was is she and her ilk were saying “Hey! Only WE can politicize this tragedy! You aren’t allowed to criticize US for that!”
I will say, when that video finished, it went right into another video, an interview of the young man who attacked the shooter, Brendan Bialy (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNQ6c7Th1Y8) He is extraordinarily well spoken. HE is a real hero. Not these pathetic entertainers or sports figures. THAT guy.

LOL...this is meant as humor, jarhead9297, not a poke at you...:)
Heh, you certainly served that purpose for me today, because I very nearly posted the same sentiments!
On a side note, if I am not mistaken, that ship portrayed is the remains of a WWII Japanese supply ship down in the Solomon Islands that was sunk by your USMC brethren from Henderson field many moons ago...

Agreed.
It’s sadly, rare to see that kind of common sense and astuteness out of teens these days, who generally run on feelings instead of common sense.
I’ve done my share of commenting without reading and had to eat my words as well.
They don’t taste so good the second time around.

I have to give those kids credit.
They said it like it was and they went up and took the mic and had their say.
They did not let themselves be intimidated and they did not let themselves be pushed around by the *Let’s all be nice* mentality that let’s people walk all over you.
They stood up for what was right and confronted their opponent in a great manner.
We need to see the right/conservatives do more of the same, call out the left on their despicable tactics.

When a horrible incident happens there is so much that is obvious that the leftists dismiss - especially anything about the shooter or any issue about how secure the building was.
This is the Left's modus operandi! It is called DEFLECTION!
Look at discussions concerning history. Take the Civil War - slavery is the one and only cause of the civil war, they completely refuse to accept that there was ANY other reason! Look at WWI - historians really twist themselves on this one - BOTH imperialism and nationalism are painted as BAD, but also two of the main causes of the war. If you even MENTION ANY other underlying cause (financial, expanded treaties, broken Constitutional/treaty requirements, etc.), you are typically scolded for daring to think outside of the authorized, think-tank-approved answers! They won't even allow a discussion about any other causes, instead they will ATTACK and BERATE YOU and call you a racist, bigots, etc. for even THINKING about something other than the approved causes!
They do not want anyone looking into the real causes of gun violence, which is often caused by THEIR policies! For example, these two particular idiots in Colorado were militant transgender/gay rights zealots (left-wing narratives) who were angry that Christians don't celebrate their "diversity" (left-wing narrative)! Instead they will often bring up excuses that lead to MORE left-wing narratives like "because their peers shunned their lifestyle, they became combative" (left-wing excuse for their violence). And "if more people just showed acceptance and love for the LGBTπ╫Q lifestyle it would have prevented this travesty" (left-wing policy forcing more perverse lifestyles on everyone).
So, the left pushes GUN CONTROL in front of the media to deflect anyone from actually looking at the root causes and to attack the Right (who are more closely aligned with the 2nd Amendment). Of course, the media willingly suck-up the Democrat drivel and blast this narrative, all the while ATTACKING and BERATING anyone who wishes to speak about any other possible causes (because that is NOT an authorized, think-tank-approved answer. The media pundits, along with the Leftists will call those wanting to discuss ALL of the causes racist, bigots, etc., because they dared to THINK outside of the approved cause!

I meant the term Jarhaed, in only the most affectionate way a person could, who has lost more than a few crayons to the voracious appetite of his fellow man. 😁😉
these kids obviously have more common sense than some of their parents and most of their peers in public school. there is hope for this country.
