The White House invoked executive privilege Wednesday, claiming the right to block lawmakers from the full report from special counsel Robert Mueller on his Trump-Russia probe and escalating the battle between President Donald Trump and Congress.
The administrations decision was announced just as the House Judiciary Committee was gaveling in to consider holding Attorney General William Barr in contempt of Congress over failure to release the full report.
Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler of New York declared the action by Trumps Justice Department was a clear new sign of the presidents blanket defiance of Congress constitutional rights. Every day we learn of new efforts by this administration to stonewall Congress, Nadler said. This is unprecedented.
White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said the action was rather a response to the blatant abuse of power by Democratic Rep. Nadler.
Neither the White House nor Attorney General Barr will comply with Chairman Nadlers unlawful and reckless demands, she said.

“..Just heard on FoxNews that when Barr walked into cabinet meeting this am he got a standing ovation...”
He deserves it. What a difference when you compare him to the previous AG who was a backstabbing RINO.
Yes, I figured you were referring to the Dems and their stooges, and not yourself, which is why I said “or anyone”.
The whole coverup premise is utterly absurd.
“The damage of a trumpeted contempt citation against AG Barr would be a higher price to pay than defending the privilege claim.”
But they get the damage of a trumpeted contempt citation of AG Barr anyway!
This just enables another avenue of attack: the AG 4 page report is a coverup, AG redacted full report is a coverup,...now executive privilege is a coverup.
All that other stuff is just white noise that allows them more opportunity to keep their narrative alive. Whereas if the administration had just said “We will NOT violate federal law to comply with the House illegal request. “ It would be over Full Stop.
This makes it tougher for them to gain access to info they have no business or legal right to - so they can leak it and ruin more lives....just being against the law for them to do something hasn’t been a deterrent so the President put up another obstacle to help insure they don’t get to walk all over the law w/o SCOTUS coming to their rescue....
” Yes it did.”
“Grand jury testimony is legally private.”
Do you see the problem with your reasoning here?
If AG BARR had just stood his ground on that fact, what could the House leftists do?
We disagree, FRiend.
“Move to impeach him.”
Yeah, that’ll work.
How far would that get them even in their lying media?
That would be true if this were a legal proceeding and one party refuses to comply with a subpoena that is issued under the authority of a court. But in this case there is no "court" because this involves two branches of government who are relying on powers vested in them under the U.S. Constitution.
Trump cooperated extensively with the Special Council. He turned over millions of pages from his personal, campaign, inauguration and White House records. The Dems want all of it, and once they have it, they can drag ANYONE who Trump or his organization ever communicated with in front of congressional interrogators. It was clear even before the report was released that it fell under Executive Privilege. This was always going to happen, but the Dems going after Barr pushed the President’s hand.
But your post makes implications as if this were a legal proceeding.
In any case, it is inarguable that Federal law prohibits release of any redacted materiel.
The Administration should have stood on that fact Loudly and Clearly.
Said elsewhere but will repeat here.
The Dims are doing this so they can see all the cards the Trump team is holding.
They have zero legal right to see testimony or evidence from grand juries currently seated. I suspect these are people other than Trump’s associates during the campaign.
Barr is following the law.
To quote Republican Rep. Andy Biggs (AZ), “Attorney General William Barr offered to let us view the less redacted version of the report, but we didnt even bother to look at it. He permitted us to take notes and asked if we can continue to negotiate, but we rejected that too. We didnt hold a hearing with Mueller or Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein before our contempt citation. We wanted him to violate federal law by complying with our subpoena.”

Ignore the concern trolls and domestic enemy agents here to sow dispair and division.
Besides, their time is short.
And their panic is showing.
According to the Whitehouse Council in their letter last wee, he stated that the Whitehouse allowed communication between staff and communications subject to privilege. The Whitehouse Council said that the information released in Part 2 of the report breached that privilege.
Oh my. It looks like the Demedia just got the damage of a trumpeted contempt citation against AG Barr. WHO KNEW ??!!
Blame it on Nancy:
They don't seem to understand the meaning, but they're throwing them around like they do.
