Rachel Held Evans, a best-selling Christian author who was unafraid to wade into fierce theological battles over issues such as the role of women, science, LGBT issues and politics on her blog and social media, died Saturday, after spending weeks in the hospital for an infection. She was 37.
Her husband Dan, who has been writing health updates, wrote on her blog on Saturday that she had been weaned from an induced coma, but swelling in her brain was not survivable.
The hashtag #PrayforRHE became a trending topic on Twitter for Evans, who had two young children, ages 3 and almost 1. Her friends set up a GoFundMe account to cover medical expenses.
Evans drew a large following in the evangelical community in both progressive and conservative circles. She criticized widespread evangelical support for President Trump, encouraged women in church leadership and questioned a literal reading of the Bible, among other issues.
Her books including A Year of Biblical Womanhood, Inspired: Slaying Giants, Walking on Water, and Loving the Bible Again and Searching for Sunday pushed theological boundaries for many conservative evangelicals, but they gave voice to many progressive evangelicals who had become frustrated with their churches. In 2012, she was named one of Christianity Today magazines 50 Women to Watch.
Ms. Evans was born June 8, 1981, in Birmingham, Ala., and moved to Dayton, Tenn., when she was a teenager.
Dayton has long been famous for the 1925 Scopes Monkey Trial, a case about teaching evolution in schools that caused many fundamentalist Christians to feel alienated from the American mainstream. She began to question her colleges teachings that shunned evolution when she published her first book on it in 2010 called Evolving in Monkeytown..."

She now KNOWS if the Bible is to be taken literally.
Otherwise known as a “wolf in sheep’s clothing.”
Why do you describe her death as a ‘stunning loss’?
Every death is a “stunning loss” to someone.
It’s all about the ‘tude.
Democrats have gone well past “a woman’s body” with killing babies that are born alive. No longer a part of a woman’s body and any Christian who does not recognize infanticide and extremism is blind.
The Episcopal Church does not believe in the authority of Scripture. It also does not believe in the concept of sin. It teaches that those who are water baptized in its church are assured of going to Heaven, and there is no requirement for an amendment of life or any other requirement.

Saw that elsewhere. She's someone who I only know by reputation. Our lives are fragile.
My oldest daughter is almost her age.
That just does not compute.
Cannot happen to be truly pro-life and vote dem.
She was apparently OK with Lefty Democrat judges being appointed to the Federal courts.
Therefore, she was a Democrat.
My only problem with dead Democrats is that they continue voting.
There is literally no connection between the baby in the womb and the mother. The nutrients are passed from the mother’s blood vessels and the babies in the placenta. It is NOT her body. The baby is a separate human being. They LIE!
She seems to have done her best to cause and proliferate more confusion who would come across her “works.” Prayers for a deeply disordered and misguided soul.
Episcopal = Church of the High Holy Anus and Sainted Rectal Prolapse.
Just wonderin was she an anti-vaxxer by any chance? Oh, the irony, were it so.

My wife passed away Oct.27, 2018 of a blood infection.
Christian who believed in evolution ...... came down on the left wing side of things. Lolwut? Christian pro-lifer Hillary supporter. Huh? Sounds like a very confused young woman. Sad that she might have died in this state of confusion.
“She advocated for the full inclusion of LGBTQ people in the church and analyzed her own complicity in racial bias after the police shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri...
...As an adult, she became a vocal critic of shame-based purity culture....”
She also argued pro-life people should vote for Hillary. In her own words

Hadn’t heard of her before today. Would much rather have heard she had repented instead of died. But she was working for the other side. Maybe she was just STUPID, but she was working for the wrong Boss.
Ive never heard of her....but she sounds absolutely apostate !
Every death is a stunning loss to someone.

If you’re a family member, close friend, etc. I would see the point. But my quick take on her is that she was one of the millions who have made themselves their own god and are leading folks away from Christ. Not exactly someone I would expect a freeper to consider a stunning loss.
