A U.S. House committee convened on Thursday without Attorney General William Barr in attendance to discuss his handling of the Mueller report at a time of rising tensions between the Trump administration and Congress.
Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler told reporters that the hearing would go ahead in hopes that Barr would reconsider. Committee Democrats have vowed to issue a subpoena to try to force Barr to testify if he does not show up.
Barr is under fire for how he characterized the Mueller report in a summary on March 24, several weeks before the findings were released. Trump seized on Barrs summary to declare he had been fully exonerated.
Democrats have alleged Barr may have also given misleading testimony to Congress about criticism he received from Mueller.
Former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, among those seeking the Democratic Partys 2020 presidential nomination, on Wednesday night called for Barrs resignation, the Washington Post reported.

The room is now empty.
Their only chance is the longshot of getting rid of Barr.
They won’t.
They ARE the weakest links.
“Democrats have alleged Barr may have also given misleading testimony to Congress about criticism he received from Mueller’
For anyone that’s been paying attention, that was completely debunked yesterday.
They have the report. First they show they are too dumb to ask their own questions now the have to admit they cant read. Democrats need to be ashamed.
DIMs have proven many times that they are incapable of being ashamed...typical for sociopaths.
D’rats peeing into the wind again as usual. They always did love talking to themselves.
btt
Rising tensions? Tensions have been full blown for over two years.
The Rats can always go on TV and talk about how much they hate Trump but that would be just another day ending in Y.
Translation: “How can we hold a kangaroo court if the marsupial won’t attend?”
Rep. Steve Cohen has moved Bill the ceramic chicken to the vacant witness chair designated for Attorney General William Barr following todays House Judiciary Cmte. meeting.
This is all orchestrated to totally discredit Barr in advance of his indicting nearly every Democrat in town for their countless crimes.
Wow! Tennessee must be so proud of this fool Cohen.
I fail to see how the Constitution allows the house to issue a subpoena to force Barr to testify.
The Constitution clearly lays out the concept of separate but equal powers to the three branches.
By the the dims reasoning, they would be able to subpoena the entire Supreme Court in order to determine how they reached the conclusion that obummer care was legal as a tax.....or for any and all other decisions.
They could subpoena the president for any and all executive orders...The list is endless and proves how childish the dims have become.
That was clearly not the intention of those who designed our form of government.
I think the dims should issue a subpoena for Barr and that the issue should go to the Supreme Court for burial.
All roads lead right back to the White House under Obama, and the Dims HAVE to provide cover or poison the well before then.
Worst case, Trump can issue a blanket Exec Priv order like obozo did with his wingman Holder.
Barr is the new Starr.
Is that real?
Yep.
