Secretary of State Mike Pompeo claimed Tuesday that embattled Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro was preparing to leave the country for Cuba, but was talked out of it by Russia.
"We've watched throughout the day, it's been a long time since anyone's seen Maduro," Pompeo said in an interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer on "The Situation Room."
"He had an airplane on the tarmac, he was ready to leave this morning as we understand it and the Russians indicated he should stay."
"He was headed for Havana," Pompeo said.

They don’t want, need, and can’t afford a base there. And they don’t need Venezuelan oil. It’s just a way to screw with us. China has far more influence and bad intent in Venezuela.

So it’s possible Pompeo is lying but how probable is it? Is he probably lying 50% of the time. And this is one of those times. If Pompeo is right that Madura was going to leave it says we have good intelligence in Venezuela. Or he’s fakin it until we make it.
