Add Virginia men's basketball to the long list of teams who won’t celebrate a championship with President Trump at the White House.
The program tweeted a statement from head coach Tony Bennett Friday that stated the team has " received inquiries about a visit to the White House.
"With several players either pursuing pro opportunities or moving on from UVA, it would be difficult, if not impossible to get everyone back together," Bennett added. "We would have to respectfully decline an invitation."

If you don’t like the people you are dealing with at the federal government, and you choose to separate them from your life, then don;t take the federal funds for research and grants that are given to the universities each year. Around 71% of the research funding for over $68 billion is from Uncle Sugar and the Peli grants are over $30 billion annually.

And I have a daughter who is a UVA grad...thankfully a conservative and the opposite of a snob....but UVA is the only school in VA where she could get a degree in Linguistics to work with Wycliffe Bible Translators.....

I am a South Carolina Gamecock, so naturally I have absolutely no use for anything Clemson-related, but I have to give their national championship football team respect for not only going to the White House, but apparently loving every minute of the visit. So tired of these kids playing politics.
I can also guess that you’re not a UVA fan.
As a Hokie, I have no use for the Cavaliers but it is likely, given the faculty at UVA, that the University told the team they weren’t going to the White House.

Actually, Bennett is a very conservative outspoken Christian, but one who knows he can’t impose his own political views on his players.
