Add Virginia men's basketball to the long list of teams who wont celebrate a championship with President Trump at the White House.
The program tweeted a statement from head coach Tony Bennett Friday that stated the team has " received inquiries about a visit to the White House.
"With several players either pursuing pro opportunities or moving on from UVA, it would be difficult, if not impossible to get everyone back together," Bennett added. "We would have to respectfully decline an invitation."

This is the liberal culture of identity politics in action.
They foster divisiveness, mistrust, hate, resentment, and envy.
It starts in Kindergarten in the government schools with teachers who are boiling over with hate for any not like them, anyone who doesn’t subscribe to their world view and politics.
If you don’t hate the people and things they hate then they hate you and your children.
By the time kids are subjected to 12 years of their warped leftist brainwashing, rants and hate mongering many of the children are incapable of thinking for themselves.
It’s time for national leaders to step up, take action and reverse this democrat/liberal culture of hate.
I doubt most of those replying are familiar with Coach Bennett or the players. While I am disappointed by the decision, I see no reason to trash Bennett or the team.
How much longer are colleges going to pretend basketball players are any kind of student?
Coach is a liar but it would dirty the White House to have anything there from UVA.
Republicans need to stop chasing after athletes and Hollywood celebrities. There are plenty of far more worthy folk who should be invited to the White House. Some of them are real heroes or victims of global socialism.
Why not just sh!t-can the whole idea of inviting sports teams to the White House like the White House Correspondents Dinner? The U.S. was far better off when there was no celebrity aspect to being at the White House. Government was far more serious then.
His mealymouthed refusal smacks of a political animal. Plus, UVA won their last two
games due to bad referee calls.
Probably a handful of the players didn’t want to go, and ruined it for the rest of them. Basketball rosters are only 12 players, so it would look kinda silly if only 6 showed up. Like happens often today in society, liberals ruin things for everybody.
children.
Yes...do National Science Fair winners, etc get invited? If not, that’s the kind of invitees that should be meeting the President.
Racist players wont go because the President is white and believes that everyone should be treated equally under law.
If it were Obama or some other liberal in office they’d lining up for a tea bag
But theyd go suck off OCommie
Exactly. I would invite every ‘Deplorable’ I could think of. I would never invite any ‘Elite’ again. I don’t care if it is a championship team, the Olympic team, Hollywood, or any of those. I would invite people that survived abortion, Down’s folks, everyday workers, farmers, just to torque the elites more.
Just like the White House Correspondents dinner, inviting sports teams to the White House is a practice which must end.
Their loss.
May all their ACLs snap, like old rubber bands, and may they all spend the next 75 years as Wal-Mart greeters.
Invite the losing team!!
I agree, no real need to trash the coach, however his excuse is very lame.
Ask yourself this question if Dear Leader Obama was still in office would he politely decline?
I think it would be highly unlikely.
Go to ISEF (International Science and Engineering Fair) and look at 1918’s Grand Winners—one Australian and two Americans of probably Indian decent). Then look at category winners, hardly anything resembling a John Smith there. Even among the Americans, it would be a fantastic display of diversity. I think you are on to something.
