New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy on Friday ordered that the Mississippi flag, which carries a Confederate emblem, be replaced by the American flag at a state park that overlooks the Statue of Liberty.
Murphy ordered the removal of Mississippis flag from a display of each states flag at Liberty State Park, a preserve of more than 1,200 acres in Jersey City that overlooks Ellis Island and Lady Liberty.
Murphy is a first-term Democrat and a self-styled progressive who regularly cited the Emma Lazarus poem at the statues base that invites immigrants to America.
New Jersey, he said, is rooted in diversity, and the flag doesnt fit.
The Confederate symbol displayed on the Mississippi state flag is reprehensible and does not reflect our values of inclusivity and equality, he said in a statement. [ ]
Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant, a Republican, said in a statement Friday: Im disappointed in Gov. Murphys actions. As I have repeatedly said, the voters of Mississippi should decide what the state flag is or is not.

You are WISE, imo & would be even WISER to avoid “DY-land” altogether in your travels.

Early 70s was site of The Godfather scene , leave the gun , take the canolis.
The road has state flag in order enter union.
Reagan was at the park 9/1/80. And I was there .
Noobs that insult long-time Freepers don’t last long. Just something I noticed.
It will be insulting morons...
New Jersey outlawed slavery only 15 years before the Civil War - and that makes OUR flag here in NJ a banner of slavery as well.
We are all slaves working for the government
That is fascinating. Can you give me a lead for more research.
Google brought up your post and only one other somewhat useful hit, the final post on this thread. https://www.muzzleloadingforum.com/threads/delaware-indians.98743/
TELLING the DOCUMENTED TRUTH isn’t insulting to anyone but LIARS & PROPAGANDISTS.
(SORRY, but what I said is TRUE, whether anyone wants to hear the truth or not.)
99% of what current “historians” claim about the causes of TWBTS is KNOWINGLY FALSE & designed to cover-up the EMBARRASSING facts from TWBTS era.
(Fwiw, I was “kicked-off of” & “permanently banned” from one well-known “military history” forum in 2017 for mentioning the at least 15-20 THOUSAND CSA POWs, who were intentionally murdered “while guests of the Union Army” at DEATH CAMPS like POINT LOOKOUT & CAMP DOUGLAS in Chicago.= Fyi, our family had four POWs, who were murdered in cold-blood at PLPOWC & one at Camp Douglas.= Though I offered PROOF from the OFFICIAL RECORDS of the Union Army, I was still banned as “the powers that be” didn’t want the TRUTH told.)

Doubling down on your same old rhetoric will get you fewer friends here. And using all-caps (internet shouting) will make you even fewer friends. Better back off on that.
What’s written in the CSA constitution is plain for all to see, and blows up your unreferenced claims. Now kindly stop.
Certainly.= Check out the well-known book, BLACKS IN BLUE & GRAY by the late Professor H. R. Blackerby, formerly of the Morehouse College & Arkansas AM&N University Departments of History for more on Black Confederates. - The prof also taught “a few months” at Jarvis Christian College before his untimely passing.= I’m told that his private papers & unpublished notes are in the JCC Library but have not had time to go to Hawkins, TX to look for/read his papers.
(As far as I know, the book is currently “out-of-print” but it is available from Inter-Library Loan & sometimes from Amazon.com or ebay.com.)
Note: I donated my copy of his book to our university’s library but it is now “missing & presumed destroyed or stolen”.
You may also want to check-out the archived issues from the late 19th & early 20th century of THE CONFEDERATE VETERAN magazine. - Especially look for photos from CSA Reunions where there are NUMEROUS Black veterans, often in uniform, among the CSA reunion members.

If telling the documented truth costs me “friends”, they were not friends at all.
Pity that you don’t want the facts on the well-documented & massive number of war crimes of the Unionists discussed and/or the facts about Black CSA soldiers/sailors/marines posted but you won’t “shut me up” by making worthless/silly complaints about “all caps”, awkward syntax, spelling errors & other unimportant blather, which Revisionists & leftist propagandists usually try as a tactic to “shut-up” people who have the facts, that the Radical Unionists & “modern left” doesn’t want exposed/discussed..
Fyi, I’m not here to “make friends” at the cost of not telling the truth.
(IF & when you have spent as many years of detailed research from period documents as I have on these subjects & offer documented/contrary facts, I’ll patiently listen to your opinions but not until then.)
Btw, the Constitution of the CSA was written by the “plantation elites” & did not represent the opinions of the vast majority of the South’s citizens. - Most Southerners in the 1860s not only didn’t read what the slave-owners had written or believed but didn’t care what the elites opinions
were either.= The vast majority of Southerners just wanted to be separated from the North.

100% CORRECT.
Yours, TMN78247
Not one whit of difference from what scores of Freepers say on any typical south bashing thread where my ancestors are deemed Nazis ....none. They just lack any authority unlike the Governor and his publicity stunt
OK, you’re spamming. Guess I’ll have to report after all.
If all the states' flags are to be raised, then it violates Article IV to ban a state's flag.

CORRECT.
Fyi, our large extended family (who then resided in northern Alabama & Mississippi), which NEVER owned a single slave (other than the Irish lass, whom I mentioned in an earlier comment & who was an “indentured servant” until she married) sent off 28 “common soldiers”, from 14 to 41 years old, to serve The Cause of Southern Freedom.
All 28 family members enlisted as Privates. One became a COL of CSA Artillery by JAN 1865, one cousin received a “battlefield commission” as a 2LT of Infantry & was later promoted to CPT.
The rest remained Privates, as far as I can tell from their service records.
At war’s end, 12 of those CSA vets returned home, including one who was blinded “in the fighting near Atlanta” & 4 others who were “missing body parts”.
(Five of our family’s soldiers were murdered at DY prisons, while helpless POWs. 4 at Point Lookout & one at Camp Douglas.)
Yours, TMN78247
Murphy may not have the authority either.
Never mind his misstating of the history of New Jersey, besides.
With respect, the ratification of the US Constitution does not support the argument that secession was not allowed or was unconstitutional. Quite the opposite.
To save bandwidth on this great site, I post a link to one of my earlier posts that summarizes that early history:
I suggest that you “run to tattle” to management. - Be sure & complain that your fact-free opinions are contrary to the documented facts that I’ve posted on this forum.
Then we’ll see if FREEDOM OF SPEECH & telling the whole truth about the facts of American history is important on FreeRepublic.com or NOT.
I wish you WELL in your REVISIONIST crusade to “shut up” people, who disagree with your unknowing/ignorant/simplistic opinions about TWBTS.
Yours, TMN78247
You seem to misunderstand this forum. Personal attacks on long-established members are against the rules (plainly referenced under the buttons when one posts a comment), and you’ve done it several times already. And the First Amendment specifically refers to Congress and laws, not to private online forums (see the Tenth Amendment).
Nothing revisionist about the CSA constitution, which you make revisionist excuses for and (for the record) that New Jersey was actually sympathetic to even until the end of the War Between The States as some people call it.
