That is fascinating. Can you give me a lead for more research.
Google brought up your post and only one other somewhat useful hit, the final post on this thread. https://www.muzzleloadingforum.com/threads/delaware-indians.98743/
Certainly.= Check out the well-known book, BLACKS IN BLUE & GRAY by the late Professor H. R. Blackerby, formerly of the Morehouse College & Arkansas AM&N University Departments of History for more on Black Confederates. - The prof also taught “a few months” at Jarvis Christian College before his untimely passing.= I’m told that his private papers & unpublished notes are in the JCC Library but have not had time to go to Hawkins, TX to look for/read his papers.
(As far as I know, the book is currently “out-of-print” but it is available from Inter-Library Loan & sometimes from Amazon.com or ebay.com.)
Note: I donated my copy of his book to our university’s library but it is now “missing & presumed destroyed or stolen”.
You may also want to check-out the archived issues from the late 19th & early 20th century of THE CONFEDERATE VETERAN magazine. - Especially look for photos from CSA Reunions where there are NUMEROUS Black veterans, often in uniform, among the CSA reunion members.
