Wildwoods American Legion post has joined the Jersey Shore towns mayor in offering to provide a new home for the Kate Smith statue taken down by the Philadelphia Flyers last weekend amid concerns over racist lyrics in songs she recorded decades ago. Since the removal of the statue, tens of thousands of comments have been posted to social media disagreeing with the decision of the Philadelphia Flyers, the petition from American Legion Post 184 reads. Veterans in Wildwood support the mayors plea to move the statue and have created this petition to show the statues owners just how much we care.

Damned Marxist democrats trying Stalin’s art of air brushing his own history. It won’t work out well.
They probably melted it down, and if not, they’re accelerating plans to do so now.
How about demanding most major league baseball teams be run out of business? It took them until 1947 to allow blacks in the mlb.
They still beat the NBA by three years. Boycott the NBA!
Exactly what were the lyrics? Stephen Foster supposedly had lyrics about African-Americans being homosexual in the summertime. So the idiot mayor of Pittsburgh had the statue of arguably the best musician this city ever produced removed.
Absolutely right. My WWII vet father remembers her coming out on a tugboat to sing to the troops as their troop ship left for the ETO.
A slap in the face to the Greatest generation.
"It seems to me that faith in the decency of human beings is what we must have more of, if there is to be a future for all of us in this world. We read in the papers every day about conferences on the best way to keep the peace. Well, I'm not an expert on foreign affairsand I don't pretend to know all the complex things that will have to be done for a lasting peace. But I am a human beingand I do know something about people. I know that our statesmenour armies of occupationour military strategistsmay all fail if the peoples of the world don't learn to understand and tolerate each other.Taken from Don't Touch That Dial: Wartime Radio And Racial Stereotyping, where the quote is introduced as "one of the strongest and most impressive individual denunciations of racism."
"Race hatredssocial prejudicesreligious bigotrythey are all the diseases that eat away the fibers of peace. Unless they are exterminated it's inevitable that we will have another war. And where are they going to be exterminated? At a conference table in Geneva? Not by a long shot. In your own cityyour churchyour children's schoolperhaps in your own home. You and I must do itevery father and mother in the world, every teacher, everyone who can rightfully call himself a human being. Yes, it seems to me that the one thing the peoples of the world have got to learn if we are ever to have a lasting peace, istolerance. Of what use will it be if the lights go on again all over the worldif they don't go on ... in our hearts."
Meanwhile, Coonman is still Governor of Virginia.
Thanks for that post-———very enlightening.
.
when I was growing up I was taught Kate Smith endeared herself to the American public because she was not the typical glamorous female lead. People loved her simply because of her beautiful voice and unpretentious style.
Flyers are hockey.
Thanks for your post. Kate Smith was a Patriot.
I think the real reason they’re doing this is to ultimately get “God Bless America” banned. Kate Smith is one of the best known singers of the song, and her version is/was a go to for several sports teams. The hatred for such a patriotic song, esp. with “God” in the title, must be too much for certain special snowflakes!
Which is a way station to the ultimate, ban "The Star Spangled Banner", and replace it with "This Land Is Your Land", or some such.
And below are two quotes from Kate Smith in 1945; BEFORE, I might add, major league baseball teams allowed “negroes” to play in the majors:
“It seems to me that faith in the decency of human beings is what we must have more of, if there is to be a future for all of us in this world. Later that same year on VJ Day:
“Millions must be fed and clothed. Other millions must be taught an entirely new way of life: a philosophy which does not include aggression and cruelty and the absolute worship of a Hitler or a Hirohito. They must be taught that there is no super-race, that all men are equal and have an equal right to enjoy the fruits of this earth and the tranquility and decency to which the truly civilized subscribe.” Kate Smith
Keep in mind that there were a LOT of Americans - still revered today - who had no problem with Hitler, Hirohito or Mao. Oh, and people like Senators Robert Byrd, J. William Fulbright, Ernest Hollings and others who would not have made those comments 20 years later!
Sorry for the repeat; waited too long to hit “Post”.
I told you that they wouldn’t stop after they took down all the Christopher Columbus statues.
On the list: ALL the founders of this country. All Christian symbols. All Whites.
