Catholic Foster Care Agency Cannot Discriminate Against LGBTQ Couples, Court Says (Philadelphia)
NPR ^ | April 22, 2019 | RICHARD GONZALES

A federal appeals court in Philadelphia ruled that city contractors must abide by nondiscrimination policies in the placement of foster children with same-sex couples.

A three-judge panel of the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals sided with the city, which had ended a foster-care contract with an agency of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. That agency, Catholic Social Services, had declined to place foster children in LGBTQ households and sought an injunction that would have forced the city to renew its contract.

The appeals panel said "the religious views of CSS do not entitle it to an exception" from the city's nondiscrimination policy. The agency "has failed to make a persuasive showing that the City targeted it for its religious beliefs, or is motivated by ill will against its religion, rather than sincere opposition to discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation."

"The City stands on firm ground in requiring its contractors to abide by its non-discrimination policies when administering public services," concluded Circuit Court Judge Thomas Ambro, writing for the panel.

There is of course no "right" to adopt. Normal couples get turned down all the time for various reasons that do not mean they are bad people.

But sodomites are just assumed to be OK by judicial fiat.

I’m actually OK with this ruling. Religious organizations shouldn’t be government contractors in the first place. These arrangements do nothing but corrupt the religious group, period.

Ain't that the truth.

The problem is that at the end of the day, the children will suffer. Being placed with a deviant sexuality family is a recipe for disaster. If anyone knows about the dangers of putting a child in the vicinity of a homosexual, it's the Catholic Church in America.

Can the Catholic agency continue its service without a city contract? Can the city force all adoptions to go through their system?

I think this is a lesson for Christendom. Don’t insert yourself into secular civic affairs unless you want to get compromised.

I believe there are other places they can go to get custody of young children.

Their freedoms don’t hinge on the Catholic facilities.

The Catholic facilities were chosen for a purpose.

“Oh, we just want to come out of the closet. We don’t have any other agenda.”

One: They push the idea there’s no difference between single sex parents and heterosexual parents, as far as the kid is concerned. Plenty of studies show that kids need exposure to a man and a woman, when it comes to parents.

Two: They seek to prevent any agency from looking out for what is best for young children.

This is a form of the same sort of error that happened when the church amalgamated with the Roman government under the friendly, well intended, but naive Constantine.

This kind of split loyalty was eventually to get the Orthodox to walk off, and much later, the Protestants to leave. If the Roman Catholic church would firmly denounce such entanglements for the future, this would make reuniting of the church a lot easier.

Gee, I am just listening to the news. I recall when they decided homosexuals could not be discriminated against, and were welcome to become Boy Scout Leaders.

It takes brave and strong leaders to make the right decisions for protecting society, especially the young. Shame on us.

Humanity fell into shame in the garden with the sin of presuming to moral autonomy. The knowledge of good and evil, sometimes called morality, is a matter that God couldn’t cede to humanity even if He wanted to. It is as big as God is and that would be an impossibility in terms.

Many, many private returns to the Lord will be needed to influence the public square in that direction again. Man’s laws are powerless without human fealty to the Almighty. This isn’t a job for the politician; this is a job for the evangelist.

Speaking as a someone who was placed in Foster care at the age of 5,I can tell you it is a scary, confusing time. A house full of strangers staring at you and barking out orders. I feel bad for these kids.

With that response, the secular sphere will continue to expand and take over everything all the more easily.

One would think so in worldly terms.

But that’s not how the Kingdom of God operates.

Thank you for referencing that article Salman. Please note that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

"A federal appeals court in Philadelphia ruled that city contractors must abide by nondiscrimination policies in the placement of foster children with same-sex couples [??? emphasis added]."

FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponent’s Argument

Patriots are reminded that the feds have the express constitutional authority to act on an issue only when it is reasonably based on a power or protection that the states have expressly amended the Constitution for.

Patriots are also reminded of the corrupt federal government’s unconstitutional workaround of the 1st Amendment’s prohibition of certain powers to Congress, freedom of religious education and free speech in this example.

More specifically, regardless that Congress is prohibited from making certain laws, that doesn’t stop anti-religious expression activist judges from legislating such laws from the bench, doing so without fear of being disciplined by the corrupt, post-17th Amendment ratification Congress.

In this case, the only sex-related protection that the states have amended the constitution to expressly protect deals only with voting rights, evidenced by the 19th Amendment.

19th Amendment:

"The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.

Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation [emphasis added]."

But since the welfare of foster children is clearly outside the scope of voting rights, the feds have no express constitutional authority to dictate policy for foster children imo.

”From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added].” —United States v. Butler, 1936.

In fact, the congressional record shows that Rep. John Bingham, a constitutional lawmaker, had put it this way about 10th Amendment-protected state powers.

”... the care of the property, the liberty, and the life of the citizen, under the solemn sanction of an oath imposed by your Federal Constitution, is in the States, and not in the Federal Government [emphases added].” —Rep. John Bingham, Congressional Globe, 1866. (See about middle of 3rd column.)

Patriots need to elect a new patriot Congress in the 2020 elections that will not only support PDJT’s vision for MAGA, but will also respect the fed's constitutionally limited powers, many of these powers listed in the clauses of the Constitution’s Section 8 of Article I.

Remember in November 2020!

MAGA!

To further clarify — one cannot serve two masters. One should not pledge oneself to a position where one must bow to the wicked orders of a wicked master — avoiding it even at the cost of martyrdom.

Remember even before November 2020 — bow before the Master of the Universe once more. It is time for judgment to begin, and this at the house of God. The secular world is lost — it acts in ignorance and unbelief. By mercy it could be pardoned of great iniquity. Those who aren’t lost but have not exercised faith in their lives, whether private or public, have fewer excuses.

While I hope the church agency wins a challenge to this, it’s a challenging position to be win. Spiritual power is needed.

“I think this is a lesson for Christendom. Don’t insert yourself into secular civic affairs unless you want to get compromised.”

Nope. Not the lesson at all.

The lesson is that if Christians do NOT engage in the “civic affairs” of our government, by default anti-christian forces will take over.

If Christian homes were filled with adopted children, there would be none left for LGBTQwerty perverts to exploit and treat as personal property.

Look around. We have Catholic hospitals, Methodist hospitals, Baptist hospitals. Never saw a LGBTQ hospital though. Sex perverts are focussed on their own sexual gratification, not on helping others. Their whole lives revolve around and are defined by their sexual fixations. And the adoption of children becomes about the wants and needs of sex perverts rather than the needs of the children who have already had a hard life.
