Last month, the American Medical Association issued a press release that urged U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services to process more H-1B visas, thereby allowing more nonresident physicians to come to the United States to practice medicine. The AMA claimed that a shortage of nonresident physicians who help fill care gaps in medically underserved regions diminishes overall patient care.

The National Resident Matching Program data reveals that from 2011 to 2018, 8,218 U.S. seniors did not matriculate into residency training. During that same period, 27,866 foreign-trained physicians, non-U.S. international medical graduates (IMGs) on H-1B and J-1 visas were selected for residencies. Although an impressive 94 percent of U.S. citizen medical graduates do match, the six percent that dont translates to hundreds of individuals who have many years and hundreds of thousands of dollars invested in their extended medical education, but cant find a job.
The AMA looks to be now supporting insurance companies and hospitals instead of doctors.
This does not bode well for their future.
If you are a hospital, why pay an American born and trained physician $200K plus a year when a FMG will often work for one half of that amount? /sarcasm
No nation can withstand this level of corruption.
Most of the citizens won’t survive this medical regimen.
Check out foreign doctors on the staff of NHS hospitals in the UK; they want that here.
The sick thing is we take doctors away from the third world, the least able to spare the brain drain.. How f’d up is that? It is sick, sick world.
Yes, our western governments are the enemy of the working class stiff.
Why every doctors office in America doesn’t have a Trump 2020 sign out front is a real head-scratcher.
I’ve noticed more doctors from foreign countries. Aren’t they needed back home?
When I was in Med School the fraction of doctors that joined the AMA was 40%. Phylis Schlafly wrote an article years ago after ICD that it had gone down to single digits and the AMA made a deal with Democrats to allow copyrighting of the codes so they got a cut every time a code was used. So at the time of that writing 90% of the AMAs funding was coming from the Fed Gov. the AMA has not really EVER actually represented doctors.
Of course not, take India, they don’t need doctors at all. /sarcasm
DoctorsWithoutJobs commercial on Limbaugh show now ( WMAL streaming).
So many of the new doctors at Kaiser are foreign.
I didn’t vote for this open border crap.
“In 2018, nearly 1,100 U.S. medical school seniors and more than 800 previous U.S. graduates did not match to a residency at a teaching hospital.”
This is the one of the reasons princess riverdawg decided not to apply to med school, despite an excellent MCAT score and straight As in her pre-med courses. She works at a university-based cancer research lab and knows several very sharp med students who didn’t match. Their careers are, at best, on hold if not permanently derailed.
The AMA is essentially an outgrowth of medieval guilds, designed to protect turf. Like virtually all unions, it is essentially leftist and globalist, so that is part of its turf.
