De Blasio: Glass skyscrapers have no place on our Earth

Yabba-dabba-dont.
Mayor Bill de Blasio is preparing to take New York City back to the stone age by making glass and steel skyscrapers extinct.
Still flirting with a run for president, the mayor held an Earth Day press conference on Monday to announce his plan to fight climate change with a Green New Deal including a bill designed to eliminate new glass-fronted towers from the city skyline.
We are going to introduce legislation to ban the classic glass and steel skyscrapers that have contributed so much to global warming, de Blasio said.
They have no place in our city or our Earth anymore.
Despite Hizzoners insistence on repeatedly using the word ban, he later admitted his legislation would actually just tighten the citys energy code to make it prohibitively expensive to develop glassy high-rises.
Its literally going to be a much higher standard and the only way that kind of design would even be acceptable is with a whole host of other changes were made to compensate because those buildings were inherently very inefficient, he said.

This is Amazon HQ in Seattle, with its "biosphere". Not trendy enough for NYC, AOC, or Wilhelm, I suppose.
Marxist despots certainly don’t.
Then the building will not be built. The plan is to turn a profit on the property.
Without replacement building, a city dies.
Example: Old office building with crappy lighting and no place to plug in computers and office equipment costs way too much to upgrade. Rent goes down, taxes do not go down as much...
Soon to be a new and unapproved homeless shelter.
Lemme guess, he’s trying to do anything he can to get Trump’s properties ruled illegal and torn down.
And afterwards it’s okay again.
Ludwig’s general paresis is beginning to act up. Watch this space for future developments.
He’s trying to put the window washers out of business.
Apparently the mayor is too dense to realize that glass is one of the few materials that is not only useful to recycle, is actually recycled. One of the key raw ingredients in glass production is old broken glass, called cullet.
But, that would require thinking on his part, not just speaking.
Mr. Mayor. Here is a simple idea that would do what you want done. Pass a law making working elevators illegal.
It was only the invention of a safe elevator that makes it possible to have tall buildings.
No elevators, no tall buildings.
(do I need to add a “/s”?)
Since New York is in decline, the mayor need not worry about new construction.
What’s his point? How many new buildings are going up? And they’re going to be built of what?
What if there is no Global Warming and it is just a Marxist club to make you pay more taxes?
Did DeBlasio go after the World Trade Center buildings?
Amazon is glad they dodged that bullet as Di-BLOW-sio would probably demand their HQ2 to be built like a mud hut in order to be “green friendly”. What a dope. Who keeps re-electing this morn?
In NY no less. Who voted for that guy?
I’m guessing he walked to the conference, right?
I guess it's one of those insecure guy things.
We just learned that NYC’s population decreased twice as fast as upstate last year (which is itself notorious for people leaving).
And his response is, this??
Take away glass and steel and you get concrete. The manufacturing of concrete releases quite a bit of CO2. Like the electric car it sounds like mayor Wacky here isn’t including the process of manufacturing the item.
How is the efficiency of a building measured? It is nebulous enough they can impose taxes without anyone having a clue what the rules are or why they exist.
I will say that the steel and glass box-like towers being built are ugly and have not asthetic value.
De Blasio is a blithering idiot just the same.
